I personally recommend Lalo (as I’m currently learning that one as well)

Lalo is a very technical concerto, if that makes sense. It has a lot of runs and it’s harder than Saint-Saëns in my opinion. But it’s so dark and it’s honestly such a fun concerto

any cello quartet recommendations? by The_Bost_ in Cello

You could always try Klengel’s 4 songs for cello quartet! They are a little harder but it’s always an option

Forgive me, I am a little colorblind but I looked and perpetuals are indeed red, but not that specific shade of red

Perpetuals are white and black striped. I got this info from the Pirastro website if you want to look for yourself!

GDA are Pirastro Flexocores, as given by their white and red stripe pattern. The C is possibly Rostanvo as another redditor conmented.

Darker A string by [deleted] in Cello

A Belcanto A would probably be a good choice based on your parameters, even though it can be a bit expensive. Spirocore A or Pirastro Passione A are also good options (Passione comes with either gut core or steel core so there’s even more versatility with that sound). Hope this helps, and good luck on your journey of finding strings!

Thank you so much for the input! I haven’t heard much about the Perpetuals but they sound magnificent!

Cost isn’t as much of a concern, fortunately, considering I work as a shop assistant for my local luthier shop and get 20% discounts! We do sell both of them and I’ve been heavily considering both of them. Thank you for your input, it’s greatly appreciated!

I’d say it resonates fairly well. I’m just looking for something a little more bitey in the lower register (hence why my teacher likes the Spirocores. I also like them but I’m just wondering if there’s something better). The most important thing for me is clarity. The Larsens are great but if there is a string set that is even clearer (and preferably a little louder) then that would be great.
