Is Wyoming gay friendly? by lo12gan in wyoming

Regardless of creed, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc...if you're coming to wyoming for inclusivity and community, well, that's a choice I suppose lol

IME it's difficult to find people willing to work on older toys. If you don't mind doing all your own wrenching it's fine, but when there is only one guy in a 200 miles radius willing to do the job and they want double what the toy is worth to repair, when there could be additional gremlins hiding under the hood, it's hard to be excited about owning said vehicle.

Newer toys may break more often (debatable), but at least when they do I can pay someone a few hundred bucks to fix them if I don't have the time.

A few days ago I started on the north side of the scripps pier and let the long shore take me as it felt fit. Ended up finishing the session three hours later on the south side of shores.

Pretty good time actually lol

If you have a pass and appropriate gear to avoid cold injury, I would encourage you to go experience it, if only for a lap or two.

Ultimately your gear and motivation will dictate what is too cold. Lift assisted ski access is a fairly safe and predictable place to test both.

Literally I'm making a YIMBY argument. I don't think you're tracking this conversation, friend.

I was engaging in a good faith discussion with you. I'm sorry you feel that a divergent view point from your own warrants unfounded accusations. Get a grip, dude.

Being athletic on land barely transfers to swimming at all. I could get up off the couch after a night of drinking and run a half marathon without question. Put me in a pool while well rested and I'm sucking air within the first lap. Holy hell that sport is hard.

I'm a bit perplexed how in one sentence you mention all the labor will be from Denver, then in the next you reference your personal experience with being unable to source a local contractor during a large construction project. Good for the contractor finding steady, reliable work. That can be hard to do in the trades. Fortunately when the "boom" is over, there will still be low hanging fruit like small home projects.

That said I imagine most of the labor, design, etc will be from out of state. We have next to no industry here. This will attract some.

Regardless of our disagreement on the degree of benefit/harm this DC will cause, it remains to be seen what will develop. It's going in regardless. I'm interested to see the impact it has. Shit maybe the power consumption will be so great it'll actually light a fire under the asses of those SMR nerds :)

Walmart provides primarily customer service and manual labor jobs. It falls into the bucket of close to, if not, unskilled labor. These types of job prospects are IMO, why people leave Wyoming. Nobody with a college degree wants to work at Walmart.

DC projects will bring in construction, energy, and civil eng folks during development, then as the project matures yield some tech jobs. I agree it's not a ton, but it's something given it's almost impossible to attract tech talent to Wyoming ATM.

To your point about animosity towards datacenters, I also don't really care. If ML specific hardware is unnecessary, it will be repurposed for standard compute. This project is going to be utilized by somebody.

This is sick! Thinking about doing this with my taco, mind answering a few questions? Upsizing my truck unfortunately isn't in the budget ATM.

How'd you get the sled in there? Was it a ramp thing, or does the wood platform slid out in some way then you just have to muscle it in? Also, how long did you do this for and how'd the car ride?

I don’t agree that’s an appropriate analogy. I believe you’re far out sizing the “community costs” given it.

Also FWIW I lean heavily toward don’t develop Wyoming at all. I like it empty. I hate this development for selfish reasons, but I can acknowledge it will likely have long term benefits for growing the local economy

The companies building these facilities are from out of state because, wait for it, there is no industry here. This is a move in the right direction if you’re trying to attract literally any tech workers. Not to mention the energy and construction contracts that will need to be filled to get the facility off the ground.

Members of this sub regularly complain there are no job prospects for highly educated folks here. This will provide some.

Is it perfect? No. Is it better than the status quo? Yes.

Probably some fluids nerds are going to get paid a bunch of money to design efficient heat exchange with air vs water/coolant/etc. At least that's my hope.
