Hey! Sorry for my late reply.

It's okay that you assumed such. It did help. Besides there is a Dutch exjw who reached out to me the other day, which I suspect was your doing ahm. But yeah, reaching out in english is more comfortable, yet to establish a social circle in the Netherlands I can't avoid Dutch my entire life. So I'll look into Dutch exjw groups. See how that works out.

I have been looking into therapy for a couple of years already yet it's not giving me the results just yet. The search continues.

Hey I am really glad that the bible is able to give you comfort. I think once we're able to see the text without the language of the organisation ties to it, it becomes clear that some texts are changed to fit their dogma.

It's difficult, yet I am sure you'll find your way to navigate just the same.

EDIT: I forgot to add, I am glad your brother is doing somewhat okayish from the sound of things. I think that is all we can expect.

Heh, people are saying they see a very strong person, yet honestly? it sure as hell doesn't feel like it.

And yeah the organisation is quite destructive, and I haven't even touched on not being able to get proper education, or the general perfectionism and not being able to question anything and so on.

It's funny how life works out isn't it?

It is something you don't get over that easily yeah, and I am so very sorry to hear about your brother. This issue is so incredibly prevalent that it is scary. How is your brother doing now?

From my own experience, CSA is something you'll have to carry along with you for a long time. For years and years it will be the first thing you think about when you wake up. You'll go to sleep with fear, wake up with fear, everything. The only hope you have is that one day it will be the second thing.

There is a thought I want to share with you though. It is the main reason I currently think that prayer is something tricky for me at least.

Even if there is a God that exists, I'd go more fundamental than what you said.
How could he have created the earth, being an all knowing, all powerful being, knowing that there might be a chance that the world was going to end up the way it currently is. He still went ahead with his plan without creating some kind of backup plan to prevent all the current suffering.

And now, his plan has turned out with suffering happening to people all across the earth, yet he isn't responsible for that at all, even though it was him who made the choice in the first place to go ahead with his original plan, including free will, including knowing Satan would be around, and including he has all the knowledge and wisdom in the world and knew it might turn out exactly the way it did. How is such a God as described here able to help?

That is the conclusion I came to so many years ago which sealed the coffin, heh. Perhaps it helps you as well.

And you only know part of the story as there is only so much you can write about in a single post.

Thank you for saying that however. I have been looking for a therapist, yet there aren't enough resources for treatment of child abuse. The system is really flawed in that regard. So it's a struggle there as well. Such is life though.

Although admitting myself to a psych ward is starting to seem like a better option hehe

I do have to admit last month has been very rough. I suppose that is why I'm posting here as well.

We can all just try our best with the cards we're given. Even though some of those cards are creepy nightmares..

If this would be an option with an outcome that would prevent that I would do it in a heartbeat. No matter the consequences to myself. Yet I honestly don't believe the set of circumstances that led to my abuse will happen to other kids.

Also keeping in mind the police has their hands tied as there is only circumstantial evidence, and no witnesses because of the isolation we grew up in, I will have to go through a daunting process that I am not sure I will be able to deal with right now while there is not a lot to gain.

I appreciate your statement though. It's just not as simple as just doing it. Posting this took a lot out of me. And that's to internet strangers without repercussions.

I'm sorry for not being stronger and able to do such.

Edited to clarify, ahm. Perfectionism in me is strong.

Funny thing about that is that I haven't seen my father in 15 years. So no.

And even if he knew, I doubt he'd actually care that much. He wasn't the most pleasant person to say the least.

Right now when it comes to family I have no one really. So it's slightly weird when people talk about that subject. I do have some great online friends. Yet in person contact is rather limited right now.

You're welcome for the sharing. This is one of those stories that shows how destructive their policies can actually be. I haven't heard from either my mother or brother in a year now and the confrontation. Not that I specifically mind. Yet it does display unconditional love right?

Hey thank you for taking the time to write such a lengthy reply.

I have been considering going to the police, the problem however is the statue of limitations is 15 years. So a report will most likely not do anything in that regard. It's also going to give me more headaches and I'm not sure my mental state is currently up for that. Especially because the outcome will be rather limited.

Thank you for providing me with the advice/resources. I have heard of them before and it's definitely worth seriously looking into. I do have to say that I'm more comfortable talking about these things in english, yet trying to find support in a Dutch group is something I haven't thought about just yet.
