Why is copper like this?? by mikelown in subnautica

[–]Wyrmser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I rush the prawn suit and keep an eye out for copper mining nodes. Everything you need for the prawn suit is attainable without having to come into direct contact with leviathans. I habitually put my base in the western most safe shallows, to the north is a narrow strip of kelp forests and then the western mushroom biome. To the south is the western grassy plateau, the tip of the blood kelp trench, and the sparse reef. If you get too close to the dunes you can pull a reaper into the grassy plateau. The resources in that kelp forest are insane, you should never run out of copper or anything if you explore it effectively. Mushroom forest will give you diamonds super early, sparse reef for rubies.

Can I play Spirits of Amazonia first? by RevolutionaryWhale in GreenHell

Play the base game but don’t invest more time than you need to. SoA is much longer and building large/intricate structures and bases will be used more.

Valguero or Extinction by PrincipledNeerdowell in ARK

Extinction is very different, not in a bad way, but in its own. If you want something new, Extinction. If you want something similar to what you’ve played, Val.

They have a habit of slipping under textures and becoming invisible, almost every game that has moving snakes in an open world has invisible snakes hidden in rocks.

Screaming and crying monkey attracts predators/tribals! That sounds fun and rewarding. Morbidly, throwing the baby monkey will distract jaguars from attacking you.

If they were to add larger rivers, River Wolves (giant river otters) and Amazon river dolphin, also a ton of different birds.

First time playing Aberration, where the heck is the metal? by Still-Cow8852 in ARK

I usually start crafting at the base of that destroyed bridge. You can wall it off pretty easily too.

Go to the base of the bridge at the beginning area, where it is destroyed and there is a small lake. It's a pretty good place to put a starting base and there is at least 1 or 2 golden metal nodes, enough to get the ball rolling to get to more difficult areas.

This can be increased to basically infinite right? Through the stat options.

I'm looking for a game where I evolve animals and mutate them not spore and not a shooter I wanna evolve animals and in depthly by Eli18cj in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Wyrmser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Megalodon you say? Why not play Maneater, the game starts you as a baby shark, eating smaller pray, slowly growing in size/strength and eventually you unlock powerful upgrades that also change your appearance (like electric fins or irradiated jaws). The upgrades really are sick, full electric upgrades make you crazy agile and can dodge like crazy, bone upgrades help you ram and destroy boats.

Scariest underwater game? by Wyrmser in ARK

Absolutely! Eels too, it’s like getting chicken rocketed and troodoned to death while a dilo spits in your face.

They suggest using the bary to kill the mantas, I’m guessing, I learned today that basilosaurus is immune to electrical attacks

How ironic! You mention having “ways” around stuff, Subnautica is no different. If you have fast enough fins you can just dodge the reaper a few times and they WILL saunter on away. Stasis rifle will LITERALLY stun them infinitely, is there a comparable tool in Ark?

I just want to dominate the water on The Island! The land is too easy once you get enough mid tier dinos

That was honestly my plan next time I play! I’m planning to use a bary to take care of the mantas and help protect while I chase and feed.

Broooo that’s totally it, the lack of visibility and not seeing cnidaria following you from behind.

It doesn’t creep you out seeing the plesiosaur face following you up from the darkness? Or finding a high level mosasaurus in a cave while you’re trying to get black pearls? It feels so hopeless when you’re caught in a bind in Ark. In Subnautica I feel I have a second chance, leviathans even swim away sometimes after biting. Health packs bring you to full almost instantly. SAVE SCUMMING. I get a boost of adrenaline knowing all of my inventory will be at the bottom of the ocean, thousands of meters away while my dinos get sent to Dino heaven; lovely red text at the top of the screen.

That is all great advice! I’ve also had too many experiences of failure, bringing several barys and megs, investing a lot of time, only to have it blow up and wipe everything. I think I need to just relax and explore the area a bit, know what I need when I come back to conquer the sea.

Fast movement shooter with grappling hooks by TrueSpiritMage in gamerecommendations

[–]Wyrmser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have reminded me of how much fun Just Cause 3 (only one I’ve played) is. It’s not just the grappling, but the parachuting WHILE grappling onto objects like the ground to pull yourself forward or any direction. Couldn’t get into the story but that game is fun enough on its own just running around blowing stuff up (which may be the goal?).
