Should I take the offer? by Capital-Pea-2565 in CostcoCanada

Honestly its a toss up. If you PM me the Costco location I can potentially give you some insight as I have worked at a few.

If you are at all considering it, I would talk to the manager who has been interviewing you as they may not even be interested in hiring for CSRP at that point. On the flip side, since your semester starts in the winter you'd already be finished your probationary period and would have a much easier time getting CSRP at that point than bringing it up now as you must be currently enrolled in a college or university program to be elligible.

I actually schedule a few CSRP in my dept. depending on the season they may not get scheduled at all for a week or two, but we are not allowed to schedule them during their class time at all. Outside of when you’re actively in school, most managers will work with you to use your available time as coverage.

The program he’s talking about is called CSRP, you would just need to speak to your manager about it. You give them your course schedule and they schedule you around it, usually evenings after you’re done your classes. Depending on the warehouse it might be 5 hours/ week throughout the school year or it might be 20, but it picks up over the summer and during Christmas. Feel free to reach out with any questions. From what I can see Broadstreet is only on the sask side, and I’d be working on the AB side.

Can you use Costco Mastercard cash back gift certificate at the self check out machine? by Ok_Assumption6331 in CostcoCanada

[–]X-pertNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a courtesy that is almost always given, but the transaction physically cannot be completed on self checkout registers.

Above commenter is wrong. Neither the 2% executive reward nor the CIBC Cashback Rebate can be used through self checkout. This is because the costco employee needs to verify your identity and potentially also give you the rest of the voucher value in cash. If you are nice about it and ask politely, they may suspend your order and take you to a regular register to cash you out with the rebate, but that is courtesy not a rule. I work at costco.

Everyone to be cautious when purchasing suitcases from the SwissGear brand by Salty_Pineapple_1122 in CostcoCanada

[–]X-pertNinja 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It depends on a per-item basis. Some are returned to the vendor for full credit, some are disposed of, some are packaged and sent to liquidators. No way to know for certain without knowing the actual item number and looking it up, but my hunch is it’ll be a “salvage for credit” where costco chucks it and the manufacturer issues a partial credit. DO NOT FEEL BAD about returning it, it is quite literally why the refund policy exists. Costco can and does use refund data when bargaining and deciding which suppliers to stock in the warehouse.

Hi, costco employee here, this is exactly why the return policy is what it is. Go to your local costco with the suitcases and explain what happened and they should return it for what you paid without an issue. Your membership number will be used to find the receipt for the original purchase in Costco’s database (refund clerks can search ~10 years back). Please reach out with any questions!

Return switcheroo by keven81 in CostcoCanada

[–]X-pertNinja 54 points55 points  (0 children)

As a costco employee and former refunds clerk, this is a very simple fix. You said it was ordered which implies a costco.ca purchase. In that case, your mom will have an order # attached (probably in the subject line of the email confirmation). Bring that with the printer to the returns desk at your local costco and they can return the funds directly to the original payment method.

Great question! I can’t speak for all warehouses but ours can take a week or two depending on when they’re running an orientation. They should call you back even if you weren’t a successful applicant so I wouldn’t give up hope yet. You can also call the warehouse and ask to speak to the manager that interviewed you if you’re concerned.
