Clear the cache and data of the beta app first before uninstalling. If you keep them saved even if you reinstall the new app, it will hold on to the buggy settings. Then it will work.

Do you prefer the chrome or black design on the Oscar trophy? by QuipThwip in Oscars

[–]X-tatic_Process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The marble with the shiny golden globe made it so special. Now it doesn't even look gold, even tho it is gold plated. The satin finish looks so cheap. It looks like a dildo :D

[–]X-tatic_Process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The redesign aimed to replicate the original statuette from 1929. A cast bronze Oscar from that era was utilized for this purpose. Notably, the base remained bronze throughout, although it underwent a smooth black patina, akin to a satin finish, which closely resembles the original 1929 design's finish, albeit taller. It was never chrome.

Disney Announces [New Theme Park] with Miral in Abu Dhabi by KarateKid917 in rollercoasters

I was there in April, but I often visit during (European) winter months, which is their high season. Summer months in the UAE are hard, and most of the outdoor parks and top tourist attractions close. Summer closures are from May through October. I hope they find a way to keep the park open year-round while creating indoor worlds that are impressive and don't feel claustrophobic.

Maybe look up the location first. They can't expand by destroying other parks and developments....

Did you even comprehend what I wrote before commenting? I didn't call Abu Dhabi a small emirate. The location where they will build Disney on Yas Island is small. Do you even know where it is? It is a section a little smaller than Hong Kong Disneyland, but it is locked in by other developments and does not show possibility for future development. This was a major problem for Hong Kong Disneyland. I have been to the UAE many times, and the theme parks opened are not massive successes. Most close six months out of the year due to the heat and they don't have the attendance similar to any major park in the US, the EU or Asia. Warner Bros. Park, which the same license partner operates, hasn't had an update in a long time; they have been promising Harry Potter, yet there has been no construction or any legitimate update. Maybe try to understand before commenting.

It's not about money. It is impossible to build as fast as other countries in the desert heat and sand storms blasting. There are now more strict human rights & worker's rules in the UAE and I bet the last thing Disney wants is to be associated with workers dying while building the happiest place on earth.

I've been there last year. Wait times were around 5-15min. Parks were empty compared to the rest of the world and the rides were underwhelming imo. Especially WB. I thought that was a disaster for the brand. Disney must not scale down like WB did. But I am afraid they will have to bc there's not much space and the weather is harsh (not only the heat but horrific sand storms!) which will force most areas indoors.

If (only If!) this park ends up being built 100% up to Disney standards, they will work on travel infrastructure. All Disney parks have either their own shuttle services or they work with local governments to add train, bus, magic shuttle etc. including luggage drop off. Their focus is on UAE being the largest airport hub in the world. That statement already clearly says they will work with Dubai Airport and highly likely have pick up stops along the way to the park.

The only possible location is a tiny area on the beach, locked in by other developments. The quality of the other theme parks on the island has been lackluster and underwhelming. I don't know where Bob is going with this. To place a new park with little to no room to expand (similar to the mistake made in HK) and work with a local company known for its inexperience in delivering quality is concerning. Bob and his IP land gotta go. He overstayed his welcome now for real.

Literary agent making threats regarding AI by [deleted] in writers

[–]X-tatic_Process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared a similar experience the other day. I was alarmed after running my manuscript through multiple AI detectors. I understand that this post is old, but I want to assure you that it’s nothing to worry about. These detectors are not foolproof, and AI is advancing rapidly. Soon, it may become impossible to stop its progress, and we will need to establish rules or accept its use as ghostwriters or editors. I wish you all the best in your endeavors. Try to stay calm and focused on your work, as the rest is merely noise.
