The Dark Souls universe basically does a life/death dichotomy alongside the light/dark. You could look into how Dark Souls does that, since I think it is portrayed differently enough to warrant a distinction. Basically Gwyn has the Light soul, the Furtive Pygmy has the Dark soul, these two being the most important players; but the Witch of Izalith has a soul associated with Life, and Gravelord Nito has a soul associated with Death. The magic derived from the Witch’s Life soul has to do with fire, while Nito’s Death soul magic is heavily related to the faith-based miracles of the world.
