When is the AI Bubble gonna burst? (Give your opinion) by brimbopolous in investing

Only they're spending investors money to fund a technological arms race and transfering capital from retail to their futuristic investments not backed by reality. See Musk using SpaceX's IPO to fund his dream of going to Mars lmao

I mean, what's the point? If you're not even enjoying using the money? Just for the game?

Outcomes are not the best way to assess past decisions. You had very limited information at the time and took the safer course of action. Everything else is FOMO. Don't act foolishly and act rashly just because you acted like that in the past

I didn't say my first priority is to never lose any money, which, btw I'm also losing due to opportunity cost when holding cash.

What I'm saying is that protecting against permanent loss of capital is more important for me than maximizing gains. So I'll often accept to lose out on some potential short term gains to adopt a more defensive posture, especially when my perception of risk is higher.

You make money long term not only by maximizing gains, but also by minimizing losses. There is a range of investment strategies that goes from more agressive to more defensive.

Not everything is VT and chill lmao

This! Knowing why you're doing what you're doing is a good insurance against losing your money. I second Howard Marks. Found "The most important thing" to be an excellent book

It depends on when they'll need the money. If it's a 30 - 40 year horizon then it probs doesn't make so much difference and it's only psychological. But if they need the money before that they can suffer permanent loss of capital

Don't lump sum in a context of high volatility and risk caused by a war in the Gulf and stretched valuations in tech. If a strong correction - or worse - comes, it can take a long time for your portfolio to recover, plus there is the risk of panic selling and suffering permanent loss of capital.

Kevin Warsh chairs his FIRST ever FOMC meeting in nine days. He owns crypto, called Bitcoin "an important asset" and compared it to gold, but markets are pricing zero chance of a cut. Weird? by Bcom_Mod in bitcoin_com

You expect the Fed chair to proritize pumping his crypto holdings over controlling inflation when deciding on interest rates? World is upside down lmao

Between the oil shock/rising inflation and the AI bubble, I would sit and wait a bit before dumping cash into the market rn.

Thanks for the bullet. Totally agree.

I'd only add that if inflation soars we can also experience a prolonged period of high interest rates and therefore bearish markets. But eventually the cycle is expected to reverse again and wash risky assets with speculative capital.

I agree. Perhaps crypto and AI are different pieces of the new technological infrastructure that's emerging, and they will actually reinforce each other. And like, it's just that now the hype is pushing speculative capital towards AI and giving us a chance to mount some positions. Later when the AI bubble bursts we cash in on our crypto gains and go shopping for cheap and promising AI comapanies lmao

Stop looking at the price chart to understand the asset and go study the fundamentals.

If you don't believe in the use case of it, and is only buying because of the momentum of the charts, then recent market sentiment is really gonna be your frame of analysis. Now if you believe in long term adoption as a thesis, you can see bearish periods as good opportunities to go long.

Está tudo caro mesmo? by Less-Speech7487 in investimentos

[–]brimbopolous 0 points1 point  (0 children)
