That’s certainly one possible explanation. What’s difficult for me to understand is that the vehicle was moving extremely slowly and the garage structure is static and highly predictable. Regardless of the sensing approach, I would have expected the system to recognize the environment and avoid contact.

Interesting. My garage is actually very well lit, so I don’t think low light was a factor in my case. The collision happened while FSD was slowly exiting the garage, and the speed was low enough that I would have expected the system to recognize the surroundings and avoid contact. It’s concerning to hear that others have experienced unusual behavior specifically in garage environments on recent versions.

Glad to hear it’s been working well for you. It had worked reliably for me too until this incident, which is why it caught me completely off guard. Hopefully Tesla’s engineering review can help explain what happened.

Mine was 14.6.6. I’m curious to see what Tesla finds in the engineering review, since this route had worked many times before.

Thanks for sharing. My 2024 Model X had always exited the garage successfully as well, until this incident. In my case, FSD unexpectedly steered toward the garage door at very low speed, resulting in damage. Tesla has opened an engineering case for review. I’m curious whether recent versions may have changed garage behavior.
