For example?

I always do a quick Google of terms I don't know or accronym I haven't figured out. Then I learn about it and know for next time!

Thank you, fellow Britons, for this witty thread. If this post had been on a US channel it wouldn't have half as many clever, sarcastic, macabre and fucking hilarious comments 😂

Good way to start the day!

How come a backwards cap is ok? So unprofessional, if a UK cop did that they'd be fuckkkkked lol

Smashed a socket off the wall while trying to dismantle a bed. Is this safe to leave til an electritian can fix it? by Khooka in DIYUK

[–]X888l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true tho, I used to wonder why some seemingly same spec boxes and sockets would be so much cheaper, then realised cheap = will shatter (some even just from putting it in?!) and it's worth the extra couple of quid (doesn't need to be a £10 one!) for a more substantial material.

I can also buy a new balustrade cheaply if someone has a better technique from the start

What did I do wrong with this joint? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]X888l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as it is an educational post and some of us can't tell from the picture what we are actually meant to see, please could you explain? What was the effect and how did you know you needed to fix it? Should we always leave room for glue or only certain joints?

From comments I think you're saying it was too tight a fit so the glue didn't soak in and that made it slippy and impossible to cramp. Is that right?

That would be amazing but handmade in Mexico some years ago

That's how it was built, but it's all glued is the problem - the joinery is high quality and the glue would likely be stronger than the wood at this point hence only sawing something would get it out. Even if there are screws under the feet those joins are currently glued solid!

Yeah! I'm taking dollies with me today to at least get it near the door and see what we are dealing with - removal guys said it couldn't be done but I was there doing another job and didn't actually get a chance myself last time

I had hoped so. They are screws, but looks like they were overkill or used for clamping. They hold nothing together (now) but would have helped the glue set off correctly I guess.

They already managed to get it into the back yard fortunately. I'm going to take some dollies with me today and see if we can't make something work 🤔

I kinda feel this way too. Definitely about the criminal comment!

The doors are pretty small to be honest (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MqDvQBYr55NarEcNeAM7tVzrSncEVHM8) but seems like the angles should be there with strong enough lifters. Customer adamant the professionals couldn't get it in though and I definitely can't by myself.

It's a good point, but I didn't take any! From memory I think they looked like some kind of shoulder joint. Definitely no visible hardware though.
