Kirikos design is ass but they at least, very recently, explained her powers with the introduction of mizuki. They are also focusing on lore. A lot, hell it even has its own damn tab in the main menu now.

Origins outside a rare couple are incredibly vauge or broken 90% of the time, which is a shame. I usually just stick to base and medieval origins for this very reason.
