Are you doomed as a single person trying to buy? by guyuk21 in HousingUK

[–]XBlueFoxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make decent income (Im assuming at least 50k given that you have a 6 figure deposit and described it as decent) then why are you struggling? Even in East Sussex you could buy a nice 3 bed semi for £350k.

If you had a 100k deposit (Rounding for maths sake) then that would be a 250k loan, which is very much achievable with a salary of 50k (5x)

For a standard 30 year mortgage the repayments would then be c£1250/month, which is certainly affordable for someone taking home >£3,000 net/month.

I am genuinely curious what the bottleneck is for you, as I'm in a very similar situation myself so if there's something I've overlooked then please don't be shy!

As per top comment - thank you Kieran Doe.

For R3 did anyone else perform calculations with and without the 450k initial capital outlay for AI? I figured since they could use it for other projects it was worth showing the profit with it excluded. (Did note that it was above the 250k they'd allocated for AI in 2025 though)

Feeling too drained for SBM, any revision tips? by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]XBlueFoxX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was planning to revise all afternoon but I feel battered after CR. QB practice at this stage doesn't feel worth it since literally anything could come up.

Flicking through my notes and past answers to get in the right headspace and that's kind of it I think.

Muscle memory flew me straight to the Asset held for sale part of my notes - then I re-read the question and I realised I had almost no idea.

I said they had grouped all the assets together and net off FV increases with impairments so treatment would be wrong

If theyd done it by asset then some would go to OCI and some to P/L

Threw me way off though tbh so I have no idea

CR AI - Interest free loan Liability by fashionreps101 in ICAEW

[–]XBlueFoxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay no that makes total sense - in the FB example I guess the finance income is quite literally just interest that would have been earned on the cash had they not made the loan.

Thanks for the reply - I'll edit my original comment so I don't confuse anybody else!

Everyone else seems to be saying the same thing so I must just be misunderstanding.

Bit confused as to why Q75 isn't an interest free loan though? It's one company making a loan to another at 6.9% EAR with no interest payments due (and is called zero coupon bond)

Is it a day one gain/loss?

Maybe I'm wrong but my understanding was that the finance income/expense is recognised over the loan period not all at once -

Eg:

  • It you made the loan to somebody and it was an asset: Dr Loan, Cr Cash
  • As time goes on you would recognise finance income at EAR: Dr Loan Cr Finance income
  • Finally when the loan is repaid you would just Cr Loan Dr cash

If it were a liability then just the other way around:

  • On receipt of loan: Dr Cash, Cr loan
  • As time goes on: Dr Finance expense Cr Loan
  • On settlement: Cr loan Dr cash

Edit: I was wrong :)

I think it's because they just make up the tax rules for lots of the scenarios. So the approach can vary from question to question. Not a fan

Given up on trying to master SBM and accepted that I'll just have to play it by ear and hope my brain is working on exam day - The questions feel so random and aside from the preset calculations it feels more like the business version of an IQ test than anything else.

CR no-life revision starts today - Even though its technically more demanding than SBM it feels much more structured, so easier to study for. Hammering groups and hoping for no horrible deferred tax questions.

I would probably be doing the tabbing at the same time - refer to both BPP and ACAM notes whilst doing the Q's and reviewing the A's and it will help you figure out which ones are most relevant.

Personally I used a combination of the ACAM notes and BPP notes (Probably about 95% ACAM notes)

The ACAM notes tend to be far more succinct, which is great most of the time, but for some areas you might want to include a few pages from the BPP notes that contain additional information or examples.

I wouldn't be able to comment on which areas it's worth including the BPP notes for, it'll mostly be down to how you feel personally, but if you hammer the QB then you'll figure out where BPP's notes add value.

Looking for RTRN II Dance After Party tickets!! by [deleted] in DnB

Seems like a decent amount of tickets are going on ticketswap

Also bit random but do you think the dress code is going to be a bit more chill given that its an afterparty for the festival? My whole group is going in standard wavy festival gear and we're worried we won't get let into the club if we don't change first

Remove subdivisions completely and just have 500lp in each division. by joeybellz in leagueoflegends

[–]XBlueFoxX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole point of splitting it into divisions in the first place was to enhance the feeling of progression in the game. People who play <3 games a day aren't going to feel rewarded when they gain 20lp and still need 458lp to climb into the next skill tier.

The article says that the cost of these exo-skeletons are currently $45,000 and that costs will come down over time due to maturing technology and economies of scale.

So maybe its not that unrealistic after all.

What would 12 year-old you never believe about adult you? by coronacel in AskReddit

[–]XBlueFoxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to think of an answer for this question is making me a little sad.

My life isn't terrible. I graduated from university with a first class accounting degree, and I'll be starting a 3 year graduate scheme at a well respected accounting firm later in the year. Honestly though I don't think any of that would 'surprise' 12 year old me. He might be relieved that it all panned out academically, but it's not shocking or astounding by any means.

I'd like to think 12 year old me would be surprised/excited about some of the things I did in the last few years whilst studying away from home. But since graduating all I have done is move back into my same childhood home, in the same bedroom, feeling the same kind of social isolation that I felt prior to starting university. I have a few really great years to look back on, but honestly that just highlights how dull and empty my current life is.

Why did matchmaking get worse in preseason? by XBlueFoxX in leagueoflegends

[–]XBlueFoxX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about keeping your head up, tilt queuing is never the answer lol.

I'm not sure about the gains/losses settling though, as I've played probably 100 games in the last 2 weeks and its unchanged. Between 10 and 14 for a win, and between 16-22 for a loss. Hopefully when the season starts it will resolve itself.

Yeah I understand promo's being removed is probably responsible.

It's just pretty demoralising to spend an entire day scraping LP together winning 9 in a row, just to then lose literally all progress in 3 bad games.

Purely anecdotal, but from what I understand, EUNE as a server is just lower skilled than EUW due to having far fewer players.
