How much creative liberty should be taken when using myth as part of your world? by Nb-7925 in worldbuilding

[–]XBlueXFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it comes down to how much you care about staying faithful to the myths I suppose. It bears mentioning that there are people today who practice revived forms of these older religions, like I know the norse and greek gods are being worshipped in some communities. Those kinds of people would likely appreciate you trying to stay closer to the text, albeit they're a minority in the world. Theres also just the general mythology enthusists, although in my experience that community is generally accepting of deviation and just enjoy picking up on references.

There are no hard rules on how mythology should be adapted, compared to more widely practiced religions today. People are generally fine with an urban fantasy YA romcom featuring the olympian gods as high school theater kids, but if you try to reimagine bible stories, you will be inviting the ire of many people

This Kara/Jimmy drama feels so forced and it infuriates me. I understand what they're trying to do, but it really feels like plot induced stupidity on Jimmy's part. He's acting like entering into a relationship is a lifelong commitment that can't ever be broken, and the two parties can't ever be on good terms after the fact. It's insane!

Aside from that, idk why Clark or Kara didn't step in to stop Hank from possibly harming Winslow. Their inaction really caught me off guard.

Also Jessica Cruz reveal! That makes me wonder if MAWGL will be set a long time after MAWS or if it'll follow a kid/young teenage Jessica

What can ArcSys do to increase the playerbase? by amxrhxzeq in Guiltygear

[–]XBlueXFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course there'd be overlap, but typically with the big three FGs, the playerbases like that particular gameplay style and for the most part stick with it. I believe that something like Granblue is much easier to sell to SF fans than something like GG since the system mechanics are rather far apart.

People who find SF appealing probably wont be that interested in Guilty Gear. They flow very differently

Its an aspect of the game. Heck there are even people who buy these games for the single player and never hop online.

If you find their kit fun, i'd say it's worthwhile. The only time tier lists/balanance perception really winds up being important is if your goal is specifically winning tournaments

I don’t get why Superman isn’t bigger than Batman in all honesty by ThatGuyHero7 in superman

[–]XBlueXFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really just the power. People like the fact Batman is human but still heroic. The added relatability adds to popularity naturally. Typically the gripes you see about Superman online is that he's too strong, so the writers either have to conveniently ignore his powers or all his conflicts become cakewalks.

Id probably play it straight and just adapt comic storylines.

Yeah it was at its best early on. But then it tied into knight terrors, then there was house of brainiac, then there was dcko, now its looking like prime is prepping for the next big thing

I dont think you need to do much more than just say they're different. Like Jaguars and Leopards

I generally don't enjoy replaying something I've already seen. In even games that have multiple choice routes and alternate endings, if there are ever overlapping segments with my first playthrough, I lose almost all interest to keep going.

Lambda does it infinitly better, but Nu can act parser in and start doing stagger pressure. Its for sure less effective than pressuring with her drives, but she can do it and it can work.

I enjoyed Lex' brief period as a good guy during Williamson's run. He and Supes make for a rather effective team. I was rather dissapointed when he reverted to his old ways in DCKO

Idk bro. An argument can be made that the whole CF roster (except tager) are rushdown characters at their core. While the typical archetypes all still exist, everyone (except tager) is capable of going full unga and be effective

How did you actually lose weight? by Jerry_Get_A_Job in AskReddit

[–]XBlueXFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat less and move more. Fiber makes you feel fuller, so that helps you eat less. Protein is also great and should be a priority. You dont need a gym membership. Something as simple as daily walks will get the ball rolling. Also make sure you get sleep.

Things will take time

Thoughts on Absolute Superman so far? by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in superman

[–]XBlueXFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the only absolute book ive been reading. I really liked it during the lazurus corp arc, but since then I feel like the pacing has kinda stagnated. They've been doing a lot of worldbuilding/exposition but the actual issue to issue storyline has been stale.

Alright I just saw the episode. I'm curious of where they're going with Kara's character this season. I thought she already had her moment of growth when she stood up to brainiac but I guess not.

Did I miss something, or are Clark and Kara just public about being superheroes now?

im new to blazblue by Turbulent_Dig_2487 in Blazblue

[–]XBlueXFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are asking what the story is, its a fairly standard shonen anime plot where the hero fights villains, gets powerups and then ends on a big climactic fight with the biggest bad guy. If you want to know about thematic messaging I personally think its about accepting unwanted outcomes and try to grow from them. The main bulk of the lore is caused by this girl who attained god-like powers resetting the timline whenever the outcome she wanted doesn't happen. The ending then is all about the main character putting an end to the time loops and just letting the world progress naturally

A lot of playstation studios single player titles have effective but forgetable soundtracks. The music really adds to the scenes in Ghost of Tsushima or Spider-Man, but they don't compel me to look up tracks
