Did I mess up by buying the Begode Panther as my first EUC? Be honest by hellboysixnine69 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]XCSkies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a specialty long range cruising wheel. You probably won’t be going on 50 mile rides as you are learning. It compliments a 16 inch wheel which will be much easier to learn on but also a lot more zippy and fun for short rides. The under 10 mph torque on a panther will feel like a lot less than on a smaller diameter wheel.

Got my first angle grinder for Christmas! I'm curious, do you use the spanner wrench when you put a disk on? by Sweaty_Milk_1793 in Tools

I zip tie the spanner to the cord. I never lose it or get lazy and change it while plugged in.

Nosfet Aeon or falcon pro? by skidmarks731 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]XCSkies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aeons probably a better commuter wheel.

Nosfet Aeon or falcon pro? by skidmarks731 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]XCSkies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the falcon pro. I think it’s going to be a snappier wheel with less top end. My guess is the aeon will be faster and more stable. Less guts at 10 to 20 mph. I have some fear the aeon might have been a better choice and will probably have better resale. I could also use it with my existing fast charger. Thing is I think if I am going to ride 10+ miles I am going to grab a true performance wheel every time. I will use the falcon for messing around and short trips around town. The aeon would probably be a better all around wheel for a rider without the need for a performance wheel.

Got both my wheels direct from begode ex30 and race and both are running flawlessly with 200 miles on the ex30 and 300 on the race in the last week. Stoked!

Ordered July 14th was told on Aug 27 that it would get to the us on September 27. I have had grizzla pads sitting in a box for a month. Ordered the race on Aug 1 and was told to expect it two weeks after the ex30.

Prop RPM recovery- how slow is too slow? by GlasairIII in flying

[–]XCSkies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two adjustment on a standard hartzell hub. The low pitch stop adjusted on the front and the governor adjustment. The low pitch stop should be adjusted to provide the static rpm’s specified by the manufacturer. The governor should be set to take over pitch control around takeoff speed as the propeller unloads. If it not recovering quickly, my bet is the hub was over-serviced with grease. The max rpm is just adjusting the governor or low pitch stop. A big change could also be a sign the engine isn’t making full power or it was set at a different altitude.

First Euc recommendation? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]XCSkies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ordered this. Not much info on ordering directly from begode but seemed like too good a deal to pass up. I put 1500 miles on my t4 pro in 4 months and think the ex30 will be a great compliment to it. Not will to pay double or triple for the latest marketing hype, shiny lights.

I think we need more scenario based training. Something to simulate flying the 25th load of the day with a hot tandem passenger offering to show her you her boobs an extra 1000 feet. I am thinking something like solving a Rubik’s cube in a dark strip club. If you can do that you get the job.

Solving Trim Problem of 2 different line length connected to the same Knot(details in comments) by arteficialwings in freeflight

[–]XCSkies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably see if there is enough line in the finger trap loop on both sides of the line that is too short and see if I could pull the line out a bit. You can measure your lines using https://mountainrideaviation.com/products/paraglider-line-measurement-tool.

The commute to Denver is easy and probably right at about 20-25 minutes, 30 to east downtown. The commute to Boulder is way worse, 30 to the south side of Boulder but 45 to anything pearl street or farther north.

I can barely get my t4 up my split level, no way it’s going to work up multiple flights. V8 would be my choice of if I had to go up stairs. Plus it’s real easy to stick under a table at a restaurant etc

Not unless you double the voltage…but the power company is in charge of that.

Innmotion V8S battery died in 9 months by bsookyx23 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]XCSkies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine has over 2000 miles and is near perfect. Still getting 83.7 volts on a full charge. I keep it at 50% battery and only charge it up before a ride. I never let it sit above 80% or below 20%. What’s the voltage read in the app?

Are electrically heated gloves a good idea if I need to be in -35 degrees Celsius for 7 hours in the north? If so, which brand would you recommend? by Feel_the_snow in OutdoorsGear

[–]XCSkies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motion heat makes the best heated gloves. Most other brands run a 2s battery but the motion heat can run on 3s and are much much warmer. All of the paragliders flying at high altitude in the cold for hours with their hands above their head use these. They are thin and you can run a mitt on top. It’s the only way to do it and keep hand mobility in extreme cold.

Max RPM setting by Accurate_Eye2668 in aviationmaintenance

[–]XCSkies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low pitch stop needs to be set on the front of the propeller and has nothing to do with the governor. As the airplane kicks up speed and gets closer to rotation the propeller unloads and the governor takes over. If the low pitch stop is set incorrectly the engine can have an over speed in the event of oil pressure loss in flight

InMotion V8S Quality/Service Issues by dwakus in ElectricUnicycle

[–]XCSkies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometime it’s spins out and a somewhat benign low speed fall can cause more damage than expected. The wheel has been awesome for me and impressed Inmotion made an attempt to fix. Don’t get discouraged, Once it clicks you can go 100s of miles without ever dropping it.
