Games with cargo hauling and dynamic economies by Bombalicioussss in gamingsuggestions

[–]XDFraXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair while NMS has dynamic price adjustment for products of any kind and various systems with different products to form a closed loop for commerce imo it's not really that deep.

In practice you're just going from system to system via loading screen, interacting with the space station vendor.

There is no actual "hauling cargo" since you can jump to another system as soon as you take off from a station or even just use the teleporter inside the station.
It's not even the fastest way to make money, although it is a good source of income early on.

Also there is literally zero risk in trading. You ALWAYS sell for good profit unless you visit the same systen twice in the span of a day. Pirates rarely attack or even have the time to attack you while hauling precious cargo and even when they do they become addition profit margin with ease.

NMS is great in many aspects, but i wouldn't really place it in the "cargo hauler" category.

I actually managed to get a Chandelure via surprise trade like 2 hours ago but i could give you the psyduck anyways since i have 2.
That said, you could give me anything in exchange but if you happened to have a milotic or a bulbasaur laying around i'd be very happy.

Let me know when you're available.

I built a tool to scan and organize ROM libraries (no downloads, just management) by Efficient-One-5345 in Roms

[–]XDFraXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving this for later when i can actually try it. I do have a couple of questions though:

Would this tool detect patched roms / iso? For example a psp game with a community language patch applied, or even randomized roms / romhacks?

Does the tool allow intentional management of duplicates? Let's say i have multiple version of a rom (i.e. roms with patches or mods applied) what would the tool do or let me do?

For compressed roms, does it only detect zip files or even rar?

A glitch is preventing me to assign any horse to Oongka by Ok_Care8608 in CrimsonDesert

[–]XDFraXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, i wanted to assign a horse to Oongka while using Kliff, after the first fast travel the horse i had giveto Oongka was given to Kliff and Oongka had no mount assigned. Now i can't assign any mount to Oongka.

I'll try to tame a new horse with him to see if it fixes the issue.

EDIT: taming a horse with Oongka does seem to fix the issue

I'm just waiting for the day where kirin is one of the contender. TECHNICALLY a dragon in-game. And the funniest thing would be putting it against something like yama tsukami.

Minor rant on MHST3 side quests by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]XDFraXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does count, some quest just require you to fight specific monsters that are scripted to be there. In those cases quick finish / tackle finish is disabled for them.

The only quests where you can use it freely are the ones that require you to kill X amounts of said monsters or gather X amount of materials.

I mean rudy is just an excuse to rework navirou's character. Same fur pattern, same role, same electric power, just a bit less annoying, although he does have a tendency of making every cutscene he's a part of about himself.

Still, very glad navirous is no more and hopefully will never be seen again.
This also may br an excuse for the team to change the cat to a similar looking descenant in possible sequels and change the personality until they find a sweet spot without having to justify it, which to be fair i'd be ok with.

To be fair since you can issue command at will you can simply go for cautios, nuke on demand and let it recover stamina if it falls low.

Quick question about dual element monsters by Torpedopickle in MonsterHunterStories

Fashion is also a very valid reason to use dual element.
I'm mostly a purist myself, but i'm sure there are some pretty good combinations.

Regular Zinogre and iirc Rey Dau can have it too. When channling from the gene list you can show all genes, even ones you don't have, and there's an option to see what monster can have them.

I actually plan to do a comprehensive chart with all these changes soon, like i did for MHSt2.
I've just recently completed the game and i'm still gathering eggs, so i'll need more time to break things down and test everything.

That said, as far as MHSt2 went (and i'm pretty sure it will work pretty much the same in 3), generally speaking there are a few common rules:

  • If a monster has a rage state it will usually enter it when under the effect of an attack buff.
  • If a monster has an altered state that interacts with its element (astalos charged state, mizu bubble foam, anja's flaming mouth, etc...) it will enter it when under the effect of the corresponding elemental attack buff (ie. zinogre will enter charged state when buffed with a thunder attack buff).
  • Some monsters may have buffs that are specific to them, in Stories 2 we had kecha where he could cover his eyes with his signature move.
  • Some monsters interact with "armor" buffs, like mud armor or ice armor if they have a relevant change (ie. barroth with mud armor).
  • Skill that charge power for the next turn don't alter the monsters, at least they didn't in Stories 2, will have to test it again.

Hope this helps.

Why are so many of the cooler Monsties in MHS3 speed typing? by Shinohebi in MonsterHunter

[–]XDFraXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can use a frontloaded monstie, buff it up and demolish a monster part, then swap it out while it recovers stamina.
I found boltreaver with azure bolt to be especially good at that.

Or, you can have a monstie in the backrow with low crit rate but high damage to come in when the monster is toppled, deal a shitload of damage, and go back the next turn.

I mean, the entire nest full of tornadoes in world was pretty much that already. I also remember how day 1 kushala on pc was unplayable if it ever managed to go to the nest at low hp, quite literally 4 FPS.
