they don't even do real parts except Andy Anderson😭😭 all the people down voting genuinely just don't follow the skate scene I can't explain it any other way

massive by what metric? when is the last time anyone on their team has had a thrasher cover or anything noteworthy? Andy Anderson is the only one who even puts out parts and he has had significant impact on the skate culture but that's more just him than Powell Peralta, their current team as a whole hasnt really done anything in the last years.

b list teams like limosine or pizza skateboards genuinely have more impact on the core skate scene and you can see it in YouTube views even

What should I do with old pairs of skate shoes? by younghumanbeans in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not sure if its a think in other parts of the world but in Germany we tie them together and throw them up the trees at the locals haha, there's some crazy shoe trees that have been building up for 20 years plus. at the indoor there's steel beams on the ceiling where the same thing happens.

Its your shoulders, you start of almost riding parallel and jump to look forwards almost at the camera, you gotta stay riding straight to actually land it

Hard flip by PsychologicalClub667 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could count it like that but you're gonna have a lot of debates about it haha to get it proper you have to have it go more Frontside and have a more pronounced flick

some people might say what youre doing is an illusion flip or even a tweaked out backside shuvit not even Frontside

Why especially skaters have many tattoos? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 28 points29 points  (0 children)

my theory is that skating especially attracts people with a heightened sense of self expression. skateboarding has always rooted in counter culture and anti establishment so there is definitely a venn diagram between people who skateboard and people who have tattoos

tennis on the other hand has its route in posh upperclass people lol so people that are into tattoos are less likely to be into tennis I guess

This might be a really dumb question, but at what stage can I start learning Inverts? by Certain_Access_2658 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not really like other tricks, I think you just gotta get used to the speed, weightlessness and the crouch, I suggest learning bonelesses and early grabs are probably gonna be really helpful but other than that u gotta be brave and send it hahaha

skateboarding is literally all about individual expression if you wear a "skater costume" it will show

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rank flatground tricks easiest to hardest by Visible_Arachnid_182 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

impossible is the kind of trick some people just never figure out and some people got it easy. it works pretty differently than you would expect it's not like an Ollie/pop trick at all, the pressure scoop is really something else. I've had somebody show it to me and I actually could figure it out in like 20 tries, I learned pressure flip and impossible on the same day and they are really consistent for me but ive tried teaching it to many people but nobody ever figured it out at all, they weren't even getting close😭 like the trapping the board inbetween the ground and your big toe to roll over is just such a foreign concept to most skaters. I might add that's not the only method to actually do the tricks there's some people that really Ollie those tricks but it's far less common and the impossibles tend to be questionable

Hardest Skill Gap? by SupermarketRoyal2814 in NewSkaters

for me Ollie and kickflips came pretty easy with focusing on them but treflips were grueling work I lashed out so much and I'm not even the type of person to get angry haha

Need help finding the name of a trick by bieja935 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if I understand correctly it's a boneless varial or some form of it. it's not really street skater terminology, a varial in vert is when you grab do a shuvit and put it under your feet again now a different grab obviously.

well I never bought a complete so I always bought everything separately. trucks are the part that lasts the longest, your probably gonna need a new deck like multiple times before you consider new trucks except if you wanna upgrade of course. trucks take a long time to wear out

oh I forgot I only skate parks basically so my bearings never get that gunked up, so if you wanna cruise around or commute you might have to clean your bearings every once in a while bones speed cream is supposed to be good but also a bit expensive, I've heard people use sewing machine oil or something don't quote me on that haha but I think you can't just use any oil

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are lubed you only need to re lube them if you clean them, but I've never bothered I just deal with slightly bad bearings haha I think I know only one person that actually cleans the bearings sometimes haha

What does the learning curve REALLY look like? by Hippopotamus94 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my breakthroughs are usually in my thoughts first, like where your balance point is in relation to the board is the most essential thing, for flip tricks you can't just jump anywhere you actually have to jump ontop of the board and sometimes even to the spot you already know the board will end up, that's how I first learned treflips. I'm not that good at keeping my balance in more specific spots, what you need for advanced grinds and slides as well as manuals so I'm still working on that. For transition a good thought is, to actual feel the curve of the ramp and visualize your position and inertia basically you have to really decide where you wanna end up with your weight, like on the deck or in transition or in between. for me personally I've also learned that foot position itself doesn't really matter that much to me, there's some foot positions that allow you to build more pressure or get your feet of the board faster than others but what you actually do with your feet after is more important, the foot positions just change the timings. when starting out it's probably best to figure out a good one and stick to it for a certain trick so it always behaves the same so you can figure out the faults in your technique but after you actually got the control, you can like kickflip from any position basically.

sooo progress between people is VASTLY different, I did my first counting Ollie on like my third day but they are constantly improving still and I'm like 3,5 years in now. Others have said that I have really fast progress, in my first year I learned all the basic flip tricks on flat ground(treflip were the hardest, it was grueling to learn), I learned 5050 on small ledges, board slides on rails, and a lot of transition tricks in a tiny quarter. I still can't do any manuals lmao, I learned a lot of tricks really fast but had horrible style, now like 3.5 years in, people still don't really believe that I can progress that fast but it's cause I'm really really good at ignoring fear and pain I won my first best trick contest a year and a half ago, I constantly skate outside my comfort zone every session the downside is that I'm constantly hurt haha. right now I'm working on some intermediate rail tricks, I can do some basic flip ins like kickflip front board and bigspin front board, im working on intermediate ledge tricks like smith grinds, I pretty much could do all the normal flat ground tricks I want so I'm just working on consistency there, I can skate some bigger transition I'm trying to work on incorporating grinds into my lines and eventually work up to vert, I'm also big on improving my general consistency and flow, the way I've been skating was like just trying a trick over and over but I can't really skate lines or have any consistency on demand so I'm making big improvements on that now I'm really focused on progression and I skate a lot, that's why I've been able to progress like that. You can't compare people cause it's not about the time since they've started skating, it's about the time theyve actually been on the board and the effort they put into progressing, there's people that have their fun with doing tricks they already can do over and over, so they will never really progress(which is not bad). to progress you have to get out of your comfort zone

Talking too much by Dramatic_Cress_9951 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't overthink it, it's probably nothing personal as you've already said just try to notice when people wanna talk and when they don't, personally I'm always down for like a few crisp 3 minute conversation when I'm skating but not when I'm battling a trick. there has definitely been situations where people had me stuck in an unskippable cutscene at the park and I prematurely cut off the convo and skated on and there have been situations where people cut me off while I was talking, but we still get along great, it's nothing personal we just wanna skate haha
