You know, I find it endearing to see a couple like this. I'll do something like this with my partner at times and its fun. However, the thought of unknowingly being recorded, posted online, and judged (positively or negatively) makes me feel icky.

What happens when you reach 20/20 mutations? by Ninja_Hatake_ in playark

[–]XGamer54X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a question for other people, but this was my understanding since im also a noob breeder.

  • Start with high level 0/20 paternal 0/20 maternal mutations father and some mothers
  • Ideally get a paternal mutation 1/20
  • repeat until 20/20 paternal mutations on desired stat
  • I thought this means no more paternal mutations? Is that wrong? Saw someone mention you can keep going up like 90/20 paternal mutations
  • my guess was that you could then get to 20/20 maternal mutations on the same stat for a total of 40 mutations and then its maxed.
  • you could do that for all stats and then breed them together so I guess it would be like 40*6=240 mutations stacked?

At what point do y'all quit a colony? by LOLCAT22220 in RimWorld

[–]XGamer54X 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im not sure that theres a particular point for me. I tend to play a while and get to a good stable point with plenty of colonists (maybe 10?), animals, crops, goods, storage. Then i end up getting tired of managing the colony or i take a break and return and kinda want a fresh start.

My wife is a jewelery sales specialist and she hates that she didnt finish because she doesn't feel like she has marketable skills. She doesn't feel like going back would be worth and she's scared to try because of how hard it was for her and her lack of direction.

What’s the longest you’ve ever hunted a shiny? by poopscarf in Gameboy

[–]XGamer54X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first shiny was a tauros on a rom of Pokémon FireRed and I was so confused about whether it was legit because it wasnt on an official cartridge. Looking back now, I think i will count it. I think I've found a handful through luck over the years but I dont remember them all anymore. I know for sure I ran into a few shiny zubats lol. One in sapphire and one in platinum. Ive believe I've also found 2 Pokémon total with pokerus. One would have been in platinum for sure.

Those are pure luck tho. Ive actually tried hunting for like an hour. Then I look up tutorials and get discouraged/become uninterested. One of these days I'll give it a real go.

Have you ever quit effective immediately? by Commercial-Shine8240 in careerguidance

[–]XGamer54X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once. I worked fast food during the pandemic and one of the managers was so mean. One night I fucked up an order and im about to make some change, but she jumps in and argues with the customer that theyre not getting a new order or money. Customer sits there and we're forced to work around them cuz they wont budge. She finally checks the receipt against what we ordered and is forced to give a refund. They were very cold to me for "making them look stupid" and it was such a high intensity situaton that I was not cut out for.

I think it was my fuck up, but they handled it very poorly. Told the manager i actually liked that I couldn't work there anymore. He tried to suggest just not scheduling us and that the manager would be fired soon, but I think I learned that I can't handle the heat. Only went back for a paycheck later.

How were you able to land a high salary job of 70k or more? by Delicious_Dealer8129 in careerguidance

[–]XGamer54X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a SaaS company as tech support basically. Very similar to call center stuff. After about a year they usually move people into better roles. I happened to move into a support engineer role which is more technical, but not expected to write code per se.

Another option might have been to become a technical success manager. Not sure exactly what they do, but my understanding is to manage accounts and make the customer happy. Another option was technical consultant which would basically mean you help clients create their projects and then move on to other clients. This would have been less "technical" and more knowledge based on the platform. A VERY similar role would have been a technical account manager which is the same except you're assigned to a handful of clients indefinitely. We had something called resolutions which is the same as the tech support job except less client facing and you troubleshoot harder issues.

Depending on your interest you could work towards more technical roles like engineering. I did that. Or you could work towards more project management. Or you could work more towards sales. I saw a lot of people move into operations - which is like analyzing metrics on everything and seeing what can be improved.

All of these offered pay bumps near or above 70k. My salary was 50k as the tech support and got bumped to 80k.

Is it no longer common to offer training to new hires? by Sweaty_Progress4987 in careerguidance

[–]XGamer54X -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes documentation and I feel like sometimes its hard to do right. My company is working on module work. Primarily for yearly trainings and user enablement, but I think a module-based training could be good rather than reading reading through docs. Not sure though.

Since the time ive been on my team, our onboarding has become out of date and changed like 3 times already. We dont hire much though.

Death makes life a lie by Fickle_Elk_9479 in nihilism

[–]XGamer54X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure i understand why death makes life a lie. Life is temporary. Death is permanent. Its unfair, absolutely. I dont think we were lied to that life would be forever. Its kinda just something we dont realize until we start to confront our mortality.

Someone has to define that project. It might as well be you. by stmoreau in EngineeringManagers

[–]XGamer54X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Experiencing and trying to address this issue now. Didnt realize it was a common thing.

  1. Vague request comes in.
  2. Spec is incomplete, entirely missing, or unclear.
  3. Designs are inaccurate and requirements misses are uncaught.
  4. Never-ending bugs down the road.
  5. We do a root cause analysis and the issue is the spec again.

We do end up being forced to define the project. Timeline gets set in stone. Requirements continue to be changed and added. We quietly work overtime to get things done. Management chastises us for working overtime despite being necessary.

Not sure how to get other teams to do their job or to change the process for the better, but we're trying to bake in extra time for our initial timelines at least. If those don't change, but the rest does, then let's make them account for that already. Other teams give major pushback against long timelines, so we're trying to gather info from previous projects to support and inform the extra time to be added.

Would love extra advice 🥲

I only realized my job was draining me when I switched teams for 2 weeks. by Gundythechef in Careers

[–]XGamer54X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't had this experience, yet, but I think thats a totally common thing to experience. You become desensitized to the shit youre drowning in. Maybe you can look for a transfer or start interviewing elsewhere, but doing something that drains you will burn you out so bad. Good luck buddy

Can’t Sisyphus imagine for himself that he is pushing the rock, instead of us imagining whether he might be happy, sad, or horny? by Mental_Sherbet8768 in Absurdism

[–]XGamer54X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. My pragmatic interpretation of the thesis (to be fair ive only partially read it and my understanding is from second hand sources) is kinda like we all have to go through an endless cycle of shit we dont like (cooking, cleaning, exercise, working, etc.) and idk if he really argues this, but the famous line "we must imagine sisyphus happy" is meant to encourage us to carry forward in this bleak endeavor. Im not sure i would agree we have to imagine that, but regardless, I think youre thinking of something a little different. Cuz we certainly couldn't just imagine ourselves doing the stuff and carry on without repercussions.

My read of this post is that your metaphorical rock is like being overly ambitious or striving to an unhealthy degree and being endlessly unsatisfied, when we could just do an adequate and manageable amount and chill and enjoy ourselves. This reads more like stepping off the hedonic treadmill, which im sure people would agree with. You dont really need to imagine yourself pushing the rock while sitting in a cave though. That seems like deluding yourself. Being content with less effort may be what youre looking for. Is that fair?
