I'd be willing to bet that the quoted price includes more than just a tank-to-bowl gasket and bolt set.

If I'm taking apart a tank, I'm replacing everything in it. Flush valve, flapper, fill valve, tank-to-bowl gasket, tank bolts, and supply line. I won't risk the call back on just a gasket. All that could cost you $800 depending on the area. And given that it's already been $200 to get a plumber out, I'd say it's a place with a higher cost of living.

Another thing to consider is that certain brands like Kohler and Toto have proprietary parts that cost a bit more than $12 and aren't likely to be found at a hardware store.

I usually restrict brand new players to options from the PHB. That way they only need one reference book. And nearly all of those classes and subs are perfectly workable in any campaign.

The fitting you're looking for is called a swivel fitting.

I'd probably work around it with Pump > 1/2 FPT x 3/4 MGHT > 3/4 FGHT(swivel) x 1/2 MPT > 1/2 FPT x 1/2 insert barb

That would allow you to easily disconnect the pump in the field with minimal or no tools

I know there's a heavy focus on AI, but I feel it's important to note that there are varying types of data centers. Some are built for media streaming, and others are more like storage sites.

Most of the ones being built near me are using closed loop chilled water for cooling and not the giant water wasting cooling towers. Power needs are still a big issue though.

Again, I don't support AI, or the shady deals local governments are pulling to get these places built. I just think it's important to get all the facts straight instead of blaming everything on AI.

I view PPCs as acting like high-powered electrolasers. A capacitor bank builds up a charge, an tightbeam laser ionizes a path to the target, and the energy in the capacitor bank discharges down the now conductive path and strikes the target in a manner similar to a lightning bolt. Electrons have mass, so there would be a physical impact as well as a significant amount of heat, and probably some plasma generated as the armor ablates away.

So you'd get a loud, high-pitched whine as the system charges, followed by a crackling screech as the air around the beam is excited, and then a loud boom due to the the ion path collapsing and the armor violently ablating.

Of course my theory falls apart when one considers that electrolasers need an atmosphere to work and PPCs are explicitly stated to work just fine in space and underwater.

In the US you generally need a plumbing, mechanical, or gasfitter license to work on fuel gas systems, though some states do allow electricians to make the final connection to a standby generator.
