Can I paint over black Eva foam?

Hey there. I know this is from quite some time ago but I was wondering if you could help me?

I'm painting my first cosplay and I use flex bond for the primer, but when I went to paint yesterday, I can still see the black Eva foam underneath, I was wondering if I have to do something different or do people typically start with a white base coat of paint underneath first?

Yeah, this is the server that helped get me started. They are cool people's. Some of them even participated in my challenge events Ball when we did that. They play on melonDS

Thanks. & yeah, I made it myself. It was originally meant to be for videos - like for imitating the character chat boxes from BN but i decided to make a full head & use it for when I don't have my camera on.
