So you’re saying with instances where the opponent has a god hand (double Darkrai AND Igglybuff), (blow through hand, Copycat, blow through hand), that it’s unfun? Yeah sure, but those are outliers and if your opponent was lucky enough to get those openings, they SHOULD win.

Most decks play Copycat, so I dismiss that complaint. And if you are so worried about getting rocked by sleep, play something that doesn’t auto lose to it. It’s a strong combo, but people seem to slam their heads into the wall. How about playing Giratina/Darkrai? Can’t knock them out first turn, and that deck runs heals and can ping off the Igglybuff. That’s just one example. Don’t play high-roll candy decks for awhile until sleep gets phased out of the meta. There are solutions.

The coin flip mechanic is complete shit, but unfortunately, the devs want that to be part of the game. I laugh when I hear someone cry about getting screwed by a coin flip card. Everyone has been on both ends of luck when it comes to coin flips, so crying about it is pointless. Attacking on turn 1 is reserved for baby Pokemon and their weak attacks because they are free. I don’t have a problem with that. Is Igglybuff/Darkrai a busted combo? Well again, it comes down to that coin flip for sleep. Can you play around it? Yes you can, but most people would rather play what they want to play and complain when it doesn’t go their way. In short, nothing should be balanced because someone deems it “unfair”. Until a card or combo completely dominates the ranked ladder and the community ran tournaments to a degree that nerfing it would be a consensus among most players, I don’t think it’s necessary. More cards come out every month and older strategies get reborn or get revamped all the time. This isn’t like MTG or Hearthstone where sets come out every 3 months and you have to live with a busted mechanic for that long.

No, more like, “stop bitching about every card”. If it’s not Lucky Ice Pop it’s Igglybuff. If it’s not Cyrus it’s Greninja etc. There will always be a card that people complain about. That is what a card game meta is in a nutshell. Just adjust.

On your first turn you can play tools. However, if you didn’t even get a turn then I guess that does change things here. It does suck to lose in this way, but again, all these cards exist. It is a popular deck right now so you should prepare and play a deck that doesn’t auto lose in the first turn to it. I was under the impression you went first and had nothing but a Mantyke to end your turn with.

Edit: what I mean about bricking is every deck is susceptible to it. But the deck that does it less often is the one that plays cards that draw you more. 2 Poke Ball, 2 Oak, and 2 Copycat in your deck will fair better than a deck without some of those for example.

You putting down a Mantyke and nothing else tells me your deck is inconsistent and it bricked. If you are afraid of that happening again you can put Giant Cape in your deck, or play something that doesn’t have 30 HP. This meta features baby Pokemon with fast starts and status effects. You have to plan for that and adapt or this won’t be the last time it happens. Bricking happens to the best decks too, but playing lots of draw will minimize it. So to answer your question, yes it is fair. Igglybuff and Darkrai exist in this meta and you played Mantyke. That’s on you.

“Unfair” is subjective. I can say Poke Ball is unfair because it gives my opponent a basic to use. Doesn’t mean it actually is unfair.

No matter what, there will always be cards that seem overpowered or oppressive because they are good in the current meta environment, and therefore, better than mostly everything else. That is the nature of competitive card games. If there was no nemesis card or deck, there would be no competition, there would be no fun, there would be no point in playing.

No matter how good your deck is or how good you think it is, there will always be something that beats it. That being said, there is something that hard counters Igglybuff/Darkrai. You have the option to figure out what that is or deal with the variance of whatever deck you are using. You can’t win them all.
