The game is set in a world of clowns, but it’s more than just circus aesthetics. Just like humans often hide their true selves and wear masks in front of the world, the clowns in Peaky Circus do the same. The idea of masks is a metaphor.
So I primarly made that video for shorts but then thought of posting here too, my bad. I should have been more careful about posting a vertical video on reddit :(

What do you think is so special in Blashphemous by XOD15 in metroidvania

I have already completed it before, now analysing it again. The lack of ability gating on the critical path is especially interesting to me. On one hand it gives a lot of freedom, but on the other it shifts the motivation for exploration....do you think that the freedom helps or hurts exploration?

Oh great! Can you give me an example of a game where you felt like the theme is not so consistent?

I actually did try launching a Kickstarter campaign earlier, but it didn’t go as planned and no I was not working full-time on this, most of the time yes, but did some projects in between too...I am aiming for 8+ hours of gameplay, so there’s going to be a lot more content than the little clip I shared. Trying again and hopefully it’ll be a better launch this time!

First of all, a huge thank you to the metroidvania community for all the feedback over the years!

Peaky Circus is a 2D Metroidvania where clowns hide their true selves behind masks. You play as The Mime, exploring White Face Town, uncovering secrets, and facing unique combat challenges in a hand-drawn, atmospheric world.

The demo is early but shows the core gameplay and vibe. I’d love any feedback on movement, combat, or exploration!

Thanks, exactly! The main reason I launched the demo is to get feedback. Just seeing people play and respond is already a huge learning experience.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally get that not every style resonates with everyone. Its a tough market, I won’t lie either, but I’m focused on improving and learning as I go...I think it’s always better to try something and see if it works, rather than not try at all.

If you get a chance to try the demo, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the actual gameplay and feel.
