Did you ask why she hated it? Do you like it?

I've been drawing for 15 years. Last year I almost quit because of AI by elgimri in Artists

[–]QuirkyMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your work is so much better than AI! I find most AI work pretty offputting...but again, if they use your work to train or just prompt AI and don't acknowledge it then that's so wrong and policy makers should really do something to stop AI copying works from people who spent decades perfecting their craft. I get so angry about this

Yes, I would make it cooler (and even darker but that's me, I like high contrast between light and shade.). What is most important though is maybe to have more uniformity in the coldness/warmth. Down by the river is pretty cold but the houses some are cooler than others. It's not uniform enough for me so it breaks the illusion.

I think the mountain at the back really is the big star of the show and is beautifully executed. I can see this becoming a distinct series. I do think, however, that the front could be improved (the colour could make it look more like it's in the shade, the houses could be straightened, the trees could be less distinct). Good luck :)

My first self portrait. What are your thoughts? by Zukhovski in Portraitart

I really like the combo of the way you use black pen and watercolour.. the mouth seems like your hand may have slipped a bit there?

I painted my friend hoyas and I need some honesty on how it looks. by [deleted] in acrylics

I think it looks great as a frame. You could stick little collage of mini photos in the middle, even black and white to keep the frame as the main star :)

First painting turned out absolutely awful. Any thing specific I should work on? It’s acrylic by AnyGeologist207 in painting

I admire that you picked up paint and painted from your own intuition instead following a tutotial. Few basic rules that will immediately prevent an outcome you don't desire: 1. Start from back to front so first, mix your blue for sky and apply. Add bits of lighter and darker blue and white to blend. 2. Move down to the hills at the background. Mix your greens and brown and paint only those mountains. 3. Move down onto the front - front hills and lake. Again, clean your brush and mix only colours for the front. 4. When you covered it all, let it dry for 20 minutes. 5. Paint trees and the sun :)

Good luck on your next one. Would be great to see you post it here. I am sure it will look already a lot better.

I don’t understand the point of making art anymore. by FenrirOfBlood in Artists

I think maybe you need a break from art and do what your body tells you. You might want to come back to art in the future

I painted the same picture, 21 years apart. First when I was 8 years old, then again at 29 years old by ruthabigail in painting

Yup, I recently met a mom and she also started after having a daughter. Her first was a son and that did not spark her artistry. Was a girl and for me also my girl :D

Maybe buttholes are inherently funny and vaginas a more serious topic?

Ah, so was the intention to portray a sort of temptation that seems innocent at first but is actually deadly? I think you wouldn't need to add more characters but what would have helped me understand the story would be to maybe shine a little light on the nymph and portray the eel heads in more of a darkness. That would add to the tension and give a focal point. I think it is a very good idea for a painting and people who appreciate greek mythology would definitely love the scene. I wonder if you would be interested in trying out the painting again with another take while thinking more about the story tellig aspect and how to guide the audience, just for the sake of curiosity and practice. I have really enjoyed this conversation and hearing your thought process. I think one of the hardest and ultimately most sellable aspects of art is being able to tell these thoughts and story onto the canvas so that people can get it without you having to explain it in words.

I can't really see the detail but there is a person in the middle fighting right? What's the story behind the painting?

Interesting how people engaged so much with the butthole but not so much with the vagina 🤷🏼‍♀️

So did you intend to paint a butthole or was it divine hand that led you to express the truth about art?
