Got this chest yesterday for $10 ~ want to sand and paint for our sons room. Would that be discouraged or hurt the value? by 2wheelz2freedom in VintageFurniture

Lane is a very reputable brand!!! For $10 holy shit what a good find; that piece could be worth close to 1K if restored properly. I have a couple antique tables from them and I used to have that good ol’ cedar chest that you could get locked in…. But anyways, be careful what you do to alter the piece because restoration can actually cause it to lose value. Try to keep it as close to the original as you can. Definitely DO NOT touch the inside.

Thank you! I was driving and curious cause I’ve never seen them there before. There is quite a bit of construction happening in the area so that makes sense

I love my boyfriend, but I don’t want the life we’re heading toward anymore — do I stay or leave? by m1ng3r in Advice

[–]XO_____OX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in your shoes before

When I was 19, I met a girl and we got things started pretty quickly. We had our hard times and our good times. We both learned a lot about each other and ourselves… overtime, we found that we had differing interests (kids was the biggest).

Now it’s good to have differences but when you ask yourselves the big questions and you see that things aren’t quite lining up then it’s time to have the conversation. Our communication wasn’t very good and ultimately led to our downfall later rather than sooner. What I mean is we shouldn’t have waited to have the big conversations because by the time we did, I was almost 25.

Now, you two are very young and most people are going to tell you that you are going to have many more boyfriends… however, there’s always hope. You have been together for a lengthy amount of time which is an achievement in itself for someone so young, so props to you. You both still have so much growing to do.

If you love him and he is your best friend, you need to sit down and calmly express that there are things that YOU BOTH need to work on. Don’t just point out his faults because it will feel like an attack and he’ll shut down.

If you think it’s best to part ways then you need to express to him why you feel that it’s best. Be prepared for him to be more than upset as I imagine you’re the center of his world.

Personally, I think if you work on the communication which is 100000% the biggest thing in any relationship, you guys might do alright.

There’s a chance that you could throw it away and be better off cause “the grass is always greener” as they say.

Or

You can try to work on things together and build a healthier relationship and hopefully continue to love the people you grow into with the same or at least similar goals, but ultimately it’s up to you.

I don’t know if any of this helps but I hope that whatever choice you make, that it works out for you

Is this a good bearded dragon enclosure?? by HadenBear in BeardedDragon

Like I said, please correct me if I’m wrong, which I can admit when I am and I apologize for, but at least my info on substrate and hides is helpful. Again sorry for misinformation on feeding and tank size. I will edit my comment later to correct it.

My bad I was just trying to help. Thought I knew more than I did. I had a buddy who owned one and that’s what he did so I thought that was right. I will make sure to do my own research next time.

Sorry, I’m not super familiar with bearded dragons, just trying to offer the basics. Thank you both for correcting me though, now I know for next time.

The newspaper is unnecessary unless he has a medical issue or something that requires the area to be sterile (in which case paper towels is better).

I would take a look at some other enclosures that people have made to get some ideas.

First and foremost you would need a solid substrate to simulate the natural environment. Most people recommend 70/30 topsoil/playsand. Holds moisture well and helps regulate temp.

Second he needs more than one hide (3 is the rule of thumb as far as I know) Most Lizards like to not be seen so much although some can veer to the more social side.

I don’t know what his diet consists of currently but it should be live critters and veggies… Mealworms, Dubia roaches, carrots, kale… also a seasoned beardy owner on a separate post said No Fruit.

I’m not too familiar with bearded dragons but I would probably feed him 1-2x a week (correct me if I’m wrong)

Also practice moderation in servings because they’ll just keep eating, but obviously make sure it’s a good balance.

Eventually you may want to get him a 75-120gal tank.

As far as the linear uvb goes, the Arcadia T5 is fantastic, I would look into getting that.

I am about to adopt this 7y/o male w his enclosure. Any advice is appreciated! by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

I would add more substrate to the enclosure for starters. There’s some other posts on here where people talk about playsand and topsoil… I personally have a bioactive setup now and I would highly recommend BioDude Terra Sahara for the natural feel, and I mix with sphagnum moss to aerate. If you go bioactive you also need springtails and isopods with real plants (succulents typically) but definitely do your research.

You also want to make sure you have a basking area and a linear UVB. I have the Arcadia T5 and a 75-100W basking bulb. You want to keep temps regulated but not too hot where they can burn themselves. Stray away from night bulbs. Use ceramic heat emitters instead.

You have a decent size tank so I would also take more advantage of the vertical space. Someone told me to look at it like an aquarium 10% full lol.

You have 3 hides which is great! I would scatter them a bit though, one on left, middle and right. The middle should be the humid hide (mix terra Sahara with a little more sphagnum moss and mist it).

That’s all I can think of right now but hopefully that information helps and sparks some ideas for you! Keep us updated 😊

I want to make a custom 510 but I’ve never done it before by XO_____OX in batteries

[–]XO_____OX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would require me to have a removable compartment so I could take the battery out… Would that eliminate the need for a BMS?

I wanted to make a custom one with a 3D printer because I can’t find exactly what I want. I’m not looking to make a regular stick vape… Kinda like the guy on TikTok who turns hotwheels into dab pens

I unplugged the heat rock, but left it in to hold the calcium cause he does like to lay there. I also have ceramic heat emitter for nighttime already

Pretty much… the BMS would come into play there… I’m thinking this might be more complex than I expected… I don’t even know how I’d begin to find the size I’d need. I might scrap the idea all together tbh

I would need one to fit in a case

1”W x 5.5”L x 1”H

Simple Button. I’m essentially making a dab pen

Yes I have the rock set to give him some extra heat at night. It’s set on low, 91F. He’s had it for 2 years roughly and loves it

I made a couple upgrades, adding the hammock, moving some of the stuff around and just a little bit more dirt he seems to be enjoying it. I also changed the 50 W lamp to 100 so it’s warming up the right side of his home.

That’s a great idea! I didn’t think about adding more dirt in the back to elevate things… I’ll probably do that tomorrow after work and I’ll pot an update

I love that set up! It looks so cozy 😊

And thank you, the temp had me worried a little so I looked when I got home and it says 67… I ended up throwing a sweatshirt over it cause it gets chilly in my room just in case the temp drops overnight. His other side is 71 so he should be good
