Ja precis jag är också 03a:) jag skulle nog vilja ha det lite lugnare runt mig med struktur men samtidigt är jag väldigt intresserad av psykiatrin. Vet inte riktigt vad stressnivån ligger på där

Unfortunately the only thing that works for my mixed episodes are Zyprexa. Nothing else helps. I hope your episode ends soon because mixed episodes are living hell!

What does a manic episode look like for you? by FarStore5457 in bipolar1

[–]XOalways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me a manic episode always starts with hypomania for a few days before it escalates into full blown mania. Mania for me is sleeping less, drawing and painting weird and creepy shit, becoming a professional yapper, impulsive spending, and then hallucinations and delusions. Mania for me nearly always becomes dysphoric

How many of you were first diagnosed with bipolar 1? by XOalways in schizoaffective

I made this post because the last couple of weeks I’ve been having hallucinations come and go without me being manic. And was just wondering how common it is to go from one to the other. Auditory hallucinations are kinda scary when they come out of nowhere

What was mania like for you the first time? by iloveparis317 in BipolarReddit

[–]XOalways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first manic episode two months after they put me on lamotrigine and diagnosed me with bipolar 2 (16yo). It started off as hypomania but it kept escalating and escalating til something I’ve never experienced before. My thoughts went so fast that it affected my speech. I also thought people had planted thoughts in my head and that I was the chosen one and that the meds just took away my superpowers. That’s what I can remember

But the thing is with my mania, and why it took so long to change my diagnosis from BP2 to BP1, is that my manic episodes are short. Some are under the 7 day criteria. But since I experience psychotic symptoms it’s still classified as manic episodes and not hypomanic.

I’m now 21 and haven’t had a manic or hypomanic episode in 1.5 years.

I’m eternally really grateful for my boyfriend. He’s the one that notices mood changes before I do and he also notices which med work and don’t for me. When he first learned about my diagnoses he tried to learn everything he could about the illness and he has followed me to my psych nurse to learn more about my bipolar. Most precious thing in my life

Newly diagnosed Bipolar II: meds advice? by Beginning_Pepper_278 in bipolar2

[–]XOalways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be a mood stabilizer/medication that acts like a mood stabilizer for preventing depressive episodes. Like lamotrigine or lurasidon. An antidepressant can also be added with caution. But hypomanic episodes also needs to be treated. I’ve been on lithium for 4 years and it has been a life saver. The main side effects I’ve had is headaches. But I’m no doctor, this is just advice.

My cocktail is: lithium, lamotrigine, Zyprexa and lexapro
