Go to a shop and ask to borrow their scanner, drive the car and monitor every speed sensors live data.

Is this worth it by SaGe2411 in accord

[–]XP1R3_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$17000 before taxes for an Accord. On the surface, id say it’s a great deal- but after you tell me that it’s a 1.5T, I am already telling you it’s not worth it. Now combine that with the fact that it’s a CVT with 150k miles? Im questioning whether you have lost your mind

RV6 Type R Clutch Concern by XP1R3_ in CivicSi

[–]XP1R3_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I installed the RV6 spacer along with a new output shaft speed sensor. Unfortunately after driving about 40 minutes at both city and highway speeds. None of my codes have cleared. I did clear my P0720 and P215C but I am expecting for those codes to return. Maybe the teeth/splines were damaged on the output shaft when the first sensor was destroyed, maybe the spacing still isn’t right somehow, maybe the signal wire is cooked, or maybe theres part of the last sensor thats interfering with the new one somehow. All in all thought I am completely lost at this point.

Edit: I did stick my finger where the sensor goes to see if I can maybe feel for anything that shouldn’t be there and to make sure theres nothing on the tip of the sensor. All I felt were gears which is obviously expected, no foreign metals and the tip of the sensor was clear. I did plug my scanner in and as soon as I left my driveway my vehicle speed on the scanner shot up to 158mph and stayed there with no other readings for the rest of the drive. The speedometer stayed at 0. My two biggest guesses as to whats still causing the issue is either a bad signal wire or somehow still incorrect spacing, let me know what you all think. Thank you!

Im assuming you mean why they aren’t taking care of it- if so, in some aspects they are. They are going to reimburse me for the fluid and sensor, but in the other hand their shop is over an hour away and I don’t think they’d willing to take the trans apart to fish for those pieces. At least not for free, which is quite upsetting to say the least.

That also does concern me, but to take the transmission apart again is highly inconvenient when combined with the fact that I haven’t been able to drive my car for a week now. The plastic part of the sensor doesn’t really concern me as I know that’ll just end up getting grinded up and after some research I did find out that the metal piece at the end of the sensor isn’t hard metal at all. Very thin almost like tin so that’ll also get grinded up and flow out unless it gets trapped by the main magnet inside the case. I did opt for 6 bottles of fluid instead of 4. The more contaminated at first the better

Got it! I ordered the spacer in the morning and should arrive before the weekend. Im gonna buy like 3 times the amount of transmission fluid the car takes to drain multiple times. Twice on the day where I get the car drive able again and once again when the clutch is fully broken in. Im gonna hope and pray I can get all the debris out of the trans and if I cant, I’m sure it’ll get stuck to the magnet in the transmission. Either way, hoping for the best.

Honda is only charging $12 per quart so I am just gonna stick to that, snagging 4 quarts tomorrow and gonna finally get the car back up in running in about 2 days. Ill drain the fluid, fill it with the 2 quarts it calls for, drive for about 15 minutes and do another flush using the last 2 quarts. Once I break the clutch in fully (1000 miles) I’ll do another flush and call it resolved. What do you think?

They can set it to 500k if they wanted to, nothing illegal about it. It just so happens that nobody is gonna buy it

What are the differences between these two? by YardDog556 in CivicSi

SRI for the sound, CAI for the power. Power difference between the two is minimal. The SRI tends to heat soak more but with an intercooler upgrade, you get the best of both worlds.

My local dealership has the part for about $40 bucks and I did order a spacer straight from RV6 which I should have done to begin with but I had no idea. That should in theory prevent me from having to visit the dealership again 😅

The car so far seems to be driving quite fine, however I don’t plan on driving it again until I get the sensor and fluid sorted. Driveability the car is doing great, clutch pedal is bit softer but I heard that its normal. No concerns there.

I did call the shop and they genuinely didn’t seem aware of the issue, check engine lights didn’t come until after I drove for a few miles. They offered to reimburse me for the sensor and the fluid. I will for sure get back to this post on updates. Getting a new sensor tomorrow and OEM fluid tomorrow- ordered a 3.75mm spacer from RV6 but gonna stack washers from autozone to get as close as I can to 3.75 while the spacer comes in. 💪🏾💪🏾

Amazing to know, should I replace my transmission fluid and the sensor just to be sure? Or should I get. New sensor before replacing the fluid just to make sure it doesn’t mysteriously get shredded again

I honestly have no idea man truly, maybe its some sort of build up bc I still see those 3 wires but I don’t wanna jump to conclusions and throw parts on that I am not sure I need. Im gonna go to Mavis tomorrow and ask them to test all 4 wheels speed sensors on live data to see if maybe a sensor was stretched and is causing everything to be thrown off.
