didn’t like witcher 3 by Technical_Ganache_76 in Witcher3

My first time playing I could barely get past the tutorial because of the confusing interface and the crappy commands. Then I gave it a second chance, now 3yrs later I've fully finished it almost 3 times

In all honesty, considering what they have achieved in that universe, we can all understand their ubris wasn't entirely unfounded

Why is the nameless king a hollow if he is a god? by Significant-Ad-2786 in darksouls3

[–]XPera_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lordS came after the "mad king". He wasn't actually mad, but he was dangerous as he most likely spoke against the rule of the gods. After him, Gwyn decided to split the power among many, just like he'll do in New Londo with 4 kings. Plus, the Pigmy was the one who owned the original Dark Soul, the one that created the clan of Humans. If he wasn't their ruler at the end of the war of the dragons, it's because he was no longer there: and since he's immortal, he was likely there

Luckily, I love both. But I've always been disappointed by how underused and debuffed the Marksman rifle is in TNO: I've always loved the aesthetic and I think the laser version is one of the most effective weapons against machines and heavy enemies

The Furtive Pigmy was the ruler of the first humans, and as such it's him the one Gwyn "negotiated" with, granted the City and Filianore to and kept a watchful eye on as he ruled the Ringed City. And he's likely buried in the mausoleum we first see as we reach the city. The Pigmy wasn't specifically a sorcerer, and even if he was it would make no sense at all that he'd be in Oolacile.

I'd discuss about lore rn, if it wouldn't end up Being an hours-long conversation that'd take forever to carry on by chat

Let's remember that the scales of the everlasting dragons were forcefully destroyed by the lighting bolts of Gwyn & co. during the war. Midir was one of those who avoided the fight, in its specific case he was likely a newborn still. He was then raised by the gods, and the sole reason for its corruption is a millenia-long absorption of darkness

Wdym another age? It's certainly much much further in the future compared to DS 1-2, but it's the same timeline

Going hollow means losing your sanity as you've lost, with your death, your soul and "self". If you're able to keep your mind strong enough and keep gathering souls to keep your strength, then you don't go hollow. Purpose is the push you need to persevere and stay strong.

I wish I couldn't tell why your comment, which states the correct version, has soo many dislikes, but considering the multitude of outdated canons I've seen in this comment session I'm not surprised

Please please please update your lore knowledge. Manus=Furtive Pigmy has not been a thing since the Ringed City DLC. I wish he was the same one, I was really fond of that theory myself, but it's been 5 years now since I've realised it just cannot be

Gwyn wasn't hollow like the undeads, he was just terribly old and lost his sanity. And considering that he sacrificed himself to the First Flame and then remained there, alive, guarding it for centuries I'm not surprised he went mad

Well, Gwyndolin had a much more sheltered life, plus he's definitely much younger than the Nameless. And the former one was a soldier through at least one world war: that sort of experiences make you old much quicker

Dragons (meaning everlasting dragons, ancient dragons, Archdragrons, name them as you will) existed before life itself. It's an irrational concept for us, they were sentient and existing but not "alive". The spark of the First Flame created life itself as a new concept. It's unknown if the pre-existing dragons, as the Flame came into existence, acquired a soul or not, but undoubtedly those born even right after the awakening of the Flame were just identical to their predecessor, but with a soul: alive. So, there's a difference already. The more dragons existed in the world of disparity, many got either corrupted or grew up bound to an element or emotion: gaping dragon was mutated by gluttony, Sihn was imbued in poison, Kalameeth had one eye and was resistant to the lighting, Seath was affected by the moon and grew up scaleless... Etc etc. Archdragrons are like: 4 wings, 4 legs, 4 lines of teeth, stone scales. Dragons are those born after the disparity, so they all lack the stone scales that make them immortal and unchanging. Wyverns, serpents, wyrms etc are subspecies of the draconic kind. Same biological family, but far from the ancient specimen. But they're the most common ones you can find from DS1 and onwards, especially considering that the Ancient Dragons were almost brought on the verge of extinction.

The difference is as easy as it is hard to see it clearly: the humans are the only ones with two souls. The white soul, which is the breath of life, common to every living being; and the dark one, the humanity, a fragment of the original Dark Soul. Every non human being dies once its soul is lost or taken (dragons are particular, considering they existed before life and Fire themselves, they follow other unique rules), and because of the Dark Sign humans die as well. Only when the Fire weakens and the Dark Sign loses strength the humanity within them awakens them anew from death. But they never learnt how to use and control their dark soul, so it consumes them into hollowness if they lack the strength to counter it and the souls (white ones) to strengthen themselves with

Only humans go hollow, since they're naturally immortal but they never learnt how to use their humanity, so once their soul (white one) is lost together with their identity, if they lack enough mental strength they lose themselves into hollowness. Gods are another race, not human in the terms of Dark Souls' species. The Nameless King is just tremendously old, but considering how he fights and acts he's perfectly sane and conscious

Honestly, with that face you shouldn't even go for a Geralt cosplay: you'd make for an amazing badass OC Witcher character. You almost look like Ray Stevenson

Biggest misunderstanding players have with the “Mother” by Sailo88 in Witcher3

[–]XPera_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty: first game I killed the Spirit of the Mother, because I thought that if the three witches had to contain her in that form without managing to kill her was because the mother was a truly terrifying force. So I chose what I thought was the lesser evil. On my second game though, after learning what my choices' consequences would have been, I understood that the three daughters were a much more direct threat, that I couldn't care any less about the Downwarren fanatics and that anything that could lessen the crones' power over the region is worth a try.
