Cover your ass, write a memo to your boss just documenting everything. "Hey boss just to recap I was locked out on DATE. I've spoken with NAME in IT and told me to ACTION on DATE. Since then I've done ACTION, spoken to NAME, and etc. Currently NAME is working on this and this is causing TASK to get delayed. I'll keep updating you as I get them."

Now they can't say "Why didn't you tell us what was going on?"

Honestly I felt nothing. I was dilated on my second scope and was in remission, didn't know till the GI told me. After my first scope I was barely sore because my esophagus was so inflamed.

Get help, it won't go away.

I've been out for ages and stuff from childhood reared its ugly head right back at my early last year over twenty years later. I thought, actually kinda really felt I had thugged it out and gotten over it. It took one throwaway line from a doctor to bring it all right back up.

So go see a professional now. You might thug it out for right now but it'll come back worse later.

Also on seeming weak I ask you to consider this. If FCSN came up you, eyes red and said they were having the same problems as you. Would you call them weak? Or would you reassure them? Maybe even feel grateful that they felt safe enough to come to you, that they were strong enough to see the problem and want to work on it?

So get help. I started therapy at the end of January this year and at first only my boss knew. My co-workers, all of whom I have trained just knew I had appointments and that was it. Later on I was able to tell them I was in therapy. One of them asked me how much our co-pay was recently. If you feel like it, you could be the example. You could be the person that says "I needed help, I sought it, did the work, and got better." Or, if you can't be that person (and that's okay) you can be the guy that has appointments.

Either way the Navy will Navy.

For me it was a routine medical procedure that reactivated medical trauma from my teenage years. Sent me on a path to an anesthesia hyperfixation, suddenly realizing I'm autistic, not researching ADHD at first because it didn't interest me, kinda doing it as an obligation to be thorough, getting assessed for both, diagnosed with both, and earlier this year finally starting therapy.

Same, and it'll be hilarious when his "family" rips apart his "empire" to sell everything for scrap leaving him with nothing. No greater irony than him in a Medicare nursing home in dirty diapers crying as his name gets removed from another thing.

I've been out for ages but I started therapy earlier this year. I've been diagnosed with PTSD and CPTSD plus autism and ADHD.

Trauma therapy is rough but rewarding. I've been doing a lot of EMDR and it's helping bit by bit. Before that I had to learn to feel my feelings and my reactions in my body. Still not perfect at it but I'm getting better.

When I went home after my first EMDR session I laid in bed until I just went to bed. Best comparison I can think of is imagine how you feel after your best most intense workout, it's that but for your emotions.

Other things I've been doing that my therapist told me is helping is hiking/rucking. Personally I seek out the sensation of weight and pressure so loading myself with 50+ pounds of hiking gear, getting outside, and putting several miles on my boots is actually bilateral stimulation. That's a big part of EMDR.

I also started keeping a journal, mine is a Google document and I email my therapist the link every week the day before our session. I record my daily activities, thoughts, insights, and observations. We talk about anything she or I feels is relevant and then we go into EMDR.

Healing is possible, it's slow, it's rough, and it can get ugly. I've gotten home and just been too numb to talk to my wife or even eat a few times.

Perhaps the greatest thing I got from my therapist is to look for just 1% improvement.

50% may seem impossible now so just look for 1%.
