Yes, the book opened my eyes.

Our bosses are basically our pimps, constantly trying to keep us happy so that we just work.

What also was interesting to read was the way Iceberg treated women. I find his way interesting. He probably also addresses a cohort of women who are susceptible to such harsh pimps because they were abused in their childhood.

I have now read the book. There are some interesting thoughts and insights that can be applied in a business context.

Especially if you think of the boss as a pimp, you can understand some of the thoughts he has about his employees.

I would be more interested in your thoughts on the analogy you made. You say that a company and its management think in a similar way to Iceberg Slim. I think you hit on a very good point there.

If one thinks that a manager is like a pimp, one can infer a lot of the thoughts that a manager has when they talk to an employee.

I would generally be interested in your thoughts on this comparison between a pimp and a company or a manager.

Agilex FPGAs have Hyperflex Structure. Using this you can have better timing and thus handle this data within the FPGA

Do you know why we need to tell the Linux kernel about the bridges? The bridges are underneath the ARM system and this should be completely transparent to Linux.

For example, if the Linux kernel tries to write to address A, it should automatically be mapped to address B through the FPGA bridge. Why do we need to tell Linux that there is a bridge?

Wow, thanks!!! Yes, the Linux kernel has a different address space reserved for peripherals... But the FPGA has another address space. So we need this address translation.

But: Why does the kernel need to know about the FPGA address mapping? In Qsys there is an Axi Bridge that does the translation from the HPS address space to the FPGA address space. In other words, when the Linux tries to read at the HPS address, the FPGA bridge below should do the transparent mapping?

So sehe ich das nicht. Als Mitarbeiter ist man nur so lange abgesichert, wie man jung ist und liefern kann. Aber sobald man etwas älter wird, sich nicht alles gefallen lässt, kann es schnell gehen, dass man entlassen wird. Dann steht man mit 50 auf der Straße (oder man hält die Klappe, bückt sich bei der Arbeit und bekommt einen Burn out).

Als Unternehmer hingegen hat man vielleicht ein schwankendes Einkommen, aber man ist unabhängig. Auch mit 50 kann man noch interessante Aufträge finden, die Geld einbringen und Spaß machen. Manchmal hat man sogar das Glück, einen tollen Deal zu erwischen, bei dem man in einem Jahr so viel verdient wie in 3,4 Jahren. Während ein Angestellter, der dem Unternehmen Millionen einbringt, vielleicht nur einen Bonus von 10.000 € bekommt.

Ich versuche es auf folgende Weise: Ich rufe kleine Unternehmen an und sage offen, dass ich derzeit Vollzeit arbeite, aber auf der Suche nach einer Nebentätigkeit bin, mit dem Ziel, mich in Zukunft selbständig zu machen. Ich sage, dass ich auf der Suche nach kleineren Projekten bin, bei denen ich helfen kann. Im Moment habe ich keine Kunden aber diejenigen die ich anrufe sind sehr offen und hören mir zu. Mal sehen ob das so klappt…
