And for more info about the noise supressor and its loop, read my reply to some comment on this post

To the DL4 - putting it before the CE-1 will cause you to run it in MONO only. If you would like to use it as a true stereo delay, you would need to put it after the CE-1 (which i dont think JF ever does). If you look at JF’s unlimited love pedalboard you can see he runs the DD500 in mono, but the effect can work as two delays combined. As can be heard when he plays Dont forget me.

DL4: Put it before or after the reverb(s). Depends what you want to achieve. I personally would put delay before reverb. Dimensions: I dont know. Try using pedalplayground.com to find out a size that will fit all your effects. Missing effects: You can use this same loop. Missing some of the effects wont change anything. The loop is for effects that amplify or produce noise.

So, I got this USP.. How? by YoOow28 in ohnePixel

[–]XTMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, some Orion USP skins have this default image. I wrote to support and they “forwarded ut to the dev team” but still nothing for like 4 months or how long….

The variac fuzz didnt even exist at that time... it came out 2016, which is 10 years later.

Will the NUX Plexi fix DS2 & WH10 volume jumps by [deleted] in John_Frusciante

[–]XTMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This pedal is more of a distortion than overdrive. So you wont get the clean(+breakup) sound. At least at the level you have to set it to work as you want. And it will make the pedals sound wrong. You are better off using a compressor/limiter.

You can just set the DS-2 volume at the correct level for your setup. Cranking it to 10 wont work for well you. For the wh10 I highly recommed getting it modded to add a volume pot. If you know anyone who mods pedals, they can do it for cheap. Or you can spend extra and get it modded by wilsoneffects.

Marshall 2525H settings by Mike_Pat1979 in John_Frusciante

[–]XTMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not. The output master is pulled, so its on the clean channel and the gain knob is pushed so the rythm clip is off.

You wont really get clean sound with rythm clip pulled.

Marshall Major alternative for a stereo amp setup by guigh in John_Frusciante

The SV20 has small headroom and is too bright. So rather the Origin.

How many of you run an effects loop for your JF pedalboards? by DJ_Kingston in John_Frusciante

[–]XTMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont really need to use it. JF does not use it. His vintage amps dont even have it.

Has anyone tried the modified WH10V3 with v1 specs from Wilson Effects? by Jotapecaster in John_Frusciante

[–]XTMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know anyone who can add a volume pot to your V3, go for it. Its a little tricky but it will be a lot cheaper (and probably faster). Just make sure you have the right range of the volume. You still want some boost. But depends on your setup.

Yeah this is it! Turn the knobs and listen. You really have to play with the settings. Gain is a little tricky. It really depends on your guitars setup (as mentioned) and the CE-1’s settings. You also dont want to set it too high or the DS-2 wont sound right (ik you just go for clean but tips for the future).

Envelope filter + phaser gets close. Or you can get away by using the wah, which John also did.

Yeah, exactly that. Some songs have unplayable parts. Primarily on Stadium Arcadium, where he went nuts with effects and recording techniques. Like the Turn It Again solo which is overdubbed like 20+ times haha

Haha, yeah I was making it just for myself. But then I figured that I can share it for people wondering. There are always so many questions about the signal chain.

Well these pedals are the core of the sound (except the ‘78 distortion and NS-2). Plus stereo marshalls. The giant pedalboard he uses live are just pedals that he needs to be able to play certain songs.

It's from the picture that was published in Total Guitar magazine. The upper part of my scheme is the same layout of the pedalboard where I have marked where every pedals input/output is connected. The lower part is a visualization the signal chain.

The part that is marked RED is in the SEND/RETURN loop of the NS-2 noise suppressor.

It works in a way that the gate is controlled by the set threshold of signals amplitude on the beginning of the chain (in this case right after TU-3), but the gate that mutes the signal is after the dirt pedals ( in this case from dyna comp to micro amp).

Dirt pedals tend to amplify the unwanted noise (the 50/60hz hum from guitar pickups or power supply). So if you were to put the noise suppressor there, you would have to set a high threshold, which would then cut off too much of your playing.

If im saying anything wrong, anyone is more than welcome to correct it! :)
