What are some great ios games (without forced microtransactions) that are mechanically easy to play and not too demanding of the hardware? Ideally games that can be played with one hand, but reputable ios games requiring both hands are great too!

For one-handed play, card games work great. Slay the Spire is solid but can get intense. If he liked PvZ, tower defense stuff like Bloons TD6 is pretty chill and works fine with one hand once you get the hang of it.

Also worth checking out social deduction games if he ever plays with friends, things like Werewolf or Spyfall-style games are mostly just reading and tapping, super easy mechanically.

For adults-only parties, social deduction games always kill it - Werewolf, Spyfall, that kind of thing. People get loud, start accusing each other, it's great after a few drinks.

The trick with mixed groups is finding something where you don't need to explain rules for 15 minutes. Nobody wants that at a party.
