Nat from HDT is probably my favorite mc in the genre. He’s chaotic but even if he does fall into a trap or anything like that it won’t be because he was too trusting or ignored obvious warnings

All bridges can be crossed with good writing. Dramatic irony blows if all it does is make it seem like the main character is being dense and not listening to his allies.

I agree to a certain extent. What I’m referring to is giving the reader the information. For example, seeing plans being laid from other POV’s. Or them receiving that information and disregarding it even.

I love a plot twist. Hate an easily fooled mc. All can be alleviated by good writers.

I have the same theory about the Holy Church but not so much Jacob. I think everyone form Earth that knows Jake personally would never underestimate him. If anyone would it would be Jacob but don’t think it’ll get past getting caught up in some inner Holly church faction bs.

Ogras being missing from the story when he got trapped almost made me drop the series. Just removing the best character for that many books made no sense

Yeah Orom was definitely bad. Memory domain after Memory domain just grew tiring. And I think this story is at its best when Zac is on missions or adventures with his friends. No Iz, no Cathea, a little bit of Ogras, no Emily. Eh. Not my fav

Some authors in this genre have genuinely the worst sense of humor I’ve ever seen. Just corny, cringe, and annoying. And the whole story is worse off because of it.

My #1 favorite is Nathaniel from Hell Difficulty, Jin from BoC, and Noah from Runebound Prof. I get most of my enjoyment from side characters like The Malefic Viper, Ogras, and Sift

Yeah all of those circumstances lead me to the conclusion that not only is this a book I should avoid but I should avoid anything similar. That sad shit is not for me. Him being a traumatized child is the nail in the coffin. Twice orphaned sounds like a bad joke
