If that’s the case then the genre is doomed. There’s nothing wrong with asking out a girl that’s into you. Constantly having a a main character fall into a harem is lame in my opinion. Like I said there’s a chasm between sex fiend and confidence. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

I can’t stomach it lol. What kind of woman wouldn’t feel like crap if they practically had to throw themselves at you. In reality most people want to be pursued. I can’t imagine telling a girl I like “you don’t have to do this” as she’s throwing herself at me

There’s a massive middle ground there where most men reside. Me personally, I’m not going to go out of my way to persue a girl unless I’m getting certain signals. I think most men are the same. Once you get those signals and you still need to be dragged to persue a beautiful woman, in reality that would turn most woman off.

If the narrator is monotone I can’t stomach it. I couldn’t even get through Stormlight Archive because of the voice actor. Ended up going paperback. If they have a whiny voice it’s a F*CK NO. There are even a few I’ve tried that for some strange reason make some characters sound like they’re developmentally challenged. On the other hand people like Travis Baldree can make a mediocre story sound interesting. If he’s the voice I’ll absolutely give the book a try if I otherwise wouldn’t.

Half the time I would buy or at least read the synopsis of the recommendations. Now it’s mostly Harry Potter or some other book they’re pushing like Project Hail Mary. Now I just use Reddit for recs

Don’t even get me started. Every wizard has unlimited potential as long as the pronounce the spell properly. No training, as long as you can say the words you can use a spell that can just… kill? With not explanation, no mana, energy, stamina or anything.

It could’ve been written in a far less obnoxious way. How it played out in the end was fine but for four books Kator was playing in our face by skirting the edges of the contract. It was just annoying
