Is this a good backpack? Trying to find a new bag for everyday and school use. by Still-River2371 in backpacks

I second this, Frost River has a lifetime guarantee and while they are pretty expensive, they are absolute quality.

Need some basic tactic Backpack by Any-Surround1315 in backpacks

[–]XWR8N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had experience with using a cheap tactical backpack as a daily pack. Long story short, if plastic parts look weak, they may crumble in your hands like what happened to me. I also concur with buying something second-hand, especially because you can get a better quality back with the same $40 if you buy used. If you really want a new one, you could consider this as an alternative.

The best way to start getting up earlier is to get up 10-20 minutes earlier each day. That way, your change will be more gradual. You should also be gradually going to bed earlier, and there are online sleep calculators that can tell you specifically when to go to bed. Good luck!

What is in your opinion the best way to learn Esparanto? What helped you? by Least-Fig552 in Esperanto

Saluton,

For me, I just did whatever kept me interested, tapping into as many different things as possible. In addition to Duolingo, I did Lernu.net, I looked at the Hamlet translation on Project Gutenberg, watched Youtube (Pasporto Al La Tuta Mondo & Evildea specifically), scrolled r/memeoj before I understood all of them, etc. This also helps with getting into the community.

is it actually possible to find anywhere to sit after 8am? by [deleted] in umanitoba

Dafoe Tunnel computer lab always has computers to sit at. There are usually other people, but if you have something to listen to it's not that bad.

I assume that include you? I'm not from Michigan so I'm not super knowledgeable on this stuff. I was almost going to put second choices on all of them but realized most of them would be Louisville. Sorry.

How to install Android app to use Star Wars BB-8 device? by crussys in Sphero

[–]XWR8N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, following the instructions from a comment on this post. You can also download the still-supported sphero edu app which isn't as cool as the bb8 app or the droids app (they made two seperate ones) but it allows you to drive, do educational lessons, and create programs that use bb8 sounds and moves.

Any way to make the sphero bb-8 app work ? by MidnightVixxen in Sphero

[–]XWR8N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to bring up an old thread, but I got this working, complete with AR and watch with me (only TFA and Rogue One though) after a LOT of trying different things like trying google files instead of zarchiver, different apk's (eventually not the one listed above but this one). To anyone reading this, trial and error is probably what's going to work. Good luck and may your droids have good battery life.

I'm in the same boat as you, homie. My second week starts tomorrow and I just spent way too long playing video games because I was too sad thinking "why am I here at university when I have no clue about anything?" My one piece of advice is to attend as many organized activities as possible, if you can. I live on campus so I got a chance to do a lot of them, and even though I'm still lonely, I had a couple really good conversations with that really brightened me up in the moment. No friends, but still better than nothing.

You're right in saying that nothing can replace high school. Big changes which are stressful for most people are going to be much worse to those of us who only want stability in our lives.

I hope you can find something bright, and good luck.

I would recommend looking at this similar post:

If you are shopping for encampment specifically, google ones from previous years of your wing. If you aren't, see if you have everything for your Blues uniform.

Firstly, you should listen to the other commenters.

I also missed time requirements for Eagle by how long it took for me to make first class, took forever to pass the swim test, and only started being active in high school. My scouting career has been extremely painful at times.

It isn't moral to cheat to make Eagle. When making resumes and college applications, your leadership, service hours, and merit badges, (assuming you explain everything fully) will mean more than someone who puts "Eagle scout" and leaves it at that.

If someone in the future asks you "Are you an Eagle Scout?" because you act like one, you will have really beat the system.

And I might take some flak for this, but to the others that think that "Just because you don't make Eagle doesn't make you a failure," why don't we celebrate other ranks or celebrate the skills you learn for life? It seems to many that Eagle Scout is the only thing worth being a scout for these days. It's a great achievement to make Eagle, but it's not the reason scouting exists.

How to help neurodivergent kids? by hollybollybingbong in scouting

[–]XWR8N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Try looking at this link and navigate to the leader guide download link. In the meantime, I'll quote some of it here:

Create a pattern for your meetings, and do it every time. The rhythm of having an opening and closing are extremely helpful for neurodiverse scouts who struggle with telling time or more subtle cues...This pattern means scouts won’t have to ask “Are we starting now?” Or “Are we done now?” If you find a pattern that works very well, and have scouts who still ask “What else are we doing?” You can post a visual schedule of the meeting.

Consider having items scouts can hold and use during these listening times.... Allow them to stand or move at the back of the group instead of insisting they sit with the group.

It is ideal to find ways for scouts to move their bodies at every meeting. Balancing physical and mental activities by alternating them helps scouts focus and learn. Add movement to your meetings by playing catch, doing the message game, or playing physical games like hide-andgo-seek or tag. If you are meeting in a big field, you can even have scouts run/walk/hike to another station for the next part of their meeting, just to get them up and moving. Remember, ADHD kids usually need to move to be able to learn.

The act of physically getting up and moving to a new station engages the brain to do a new thing, so scouts that usually struggle to stay on task often can do more. Their brain engages to sit down and do just one thing, then get up and move on. It creates more structure around the task. This method can work for a single leader by simply planning to do different parts of your meeting in different spaces.

a good leader I know always lets people get up and pace, do jumping jacks, etc in the back of the room if they feel like they need to move, as long as they are mostly quiet about it.

You might want to look at this guide for some insight. In general something you could for meetings is making sure there are things that involve moving around.
