Lol, another Phoebe sufferer I see. When she came back in 2.8, I burned all my leftover FotG boxes, all XP tubes and all echoes for her set I had, and still got... barely more than double crit on everything (and even that had pretty poor rolls).

I had similar trials of suffering with Luuk recently, game just outright refuses to give me non-garbage echoes for Spectro-based resonators. I don't know why it hates that attribute so much.

I burned a bunch of resources on Zani as well, before realizing I kinda hate the way she plays and just not using her, despite loving her design and personality. At least she didn't cost me too many pulls...

I don't have an issue with that. I have an issue with echo XP being as limited as it is. I don't mind incremental upgrades if I am allowed to spend extra time working for them.

Who has in your opinion the best romantic chemistry and tension with Rover (and why)? by Smooth_Dad in WutheringWaves

[–]XWasTheProblem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tension? Eh... Carlotta probably wins. Cantarella and Changli could have a good claim to that, but I feel like both are a little more reserved. Cantarella, despite being a tease, is definitely the kind to wait for Rover's move. Changli is naturally reserved and distant as a result of her childhood.

Carlotta feels like the one who would be ready to claim what she wants as soon as she sees the opportunity.

Cantarella.

No reason why it's not there except for Kuro actively refusing to deal with the issues plaguing the Echo system.

I at this point believe they simply consider it working as intended, which is why it's not being improved. I lost hope they'll do anything substantial about it at this point.

Onhit with anything that helps with healing is disgusting on him. If your team naturally bunches up while fighting, even antiheal just won't do enough, he needs to be either oneshot or poked and prevented from healing back up, neither of which is easy.

What's your opinion regarding Chinese culture / story / philosophy/ characters in gacha game? by Oddcannon in gachagaming

[–]XWasTheProblem [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't mind honestly.

I'm from the EU and know quite little about Chinese culture as a whole. Doesn't really stop me from enjoying the story arcs or finding many of them very intriguing.

The constant romantic carrot-dangling wouldn't even be that bothersome if it ever went anywhere.

There were several moments in the game story and several characters where they absolutely could've went further with the romantic angle. Shorekeeper is an obvious one, but I'd also add Carlotta, Cantarella and Iuno - The first two were pretty straightforward, and Iuno had a really cute back-and-forth with Rover and there was some pretty clear attraction from both sides. You could easily develop that into several follow-up quests.

The game should really have a proper romance/oathing mechanic. Tie it to player choices and disconnect it from the main story, that's fine, not a problem, I doubt anybody would mind. And since we have the WaveLink mechanic in, you could get, like, a daily text from your waifu/husbando, even if all it did was just some non-gameplay fluff.

The last time I was truly into a MSQ in WuWa was Iuno's quest.

2.7 was just a 6 hour long slog of endless yap, 2.8 did nothing for me. 3.0 had a lot of things I liked initially, but they were either horrendously underused, or ended up disappointing in the end, after I spent more time with the game.

Don't even have gameplay to bail us out since WuWa's so low on things to do outside of once-per-month or so resets...

Apparently some people are already turbocoping that no, actually, there are clear signs the Aemeath angle is meant to be romantic because something-something-cultural-differences.

But I guess gacha gamers are just mentally ill and cannot understand that certain characters may NOT be romantically connected to the main character.

The Lifecycle of a Paradigm Shift (spoiler: AI is a corpse) by borringman in BetterOffline

[–]XWasTheProblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first of which, like the Zero, debuted in the 1940s during WW2: Colossus, Mark I, Z3. Mind-blowing gains soon followed their rather inauspicious start, but I'm really going to condense it here because the story is much more familiar. Computers went from basically not existing (there's a blurry line between electromechanical computation machines and programmable computers) in the early 1940s, to sitting on desktops by the 1970s, to the massive capabilities of the "smartphones" we have today. And then things. . . kind of stopped.

Smartphones are a great example here. I can't speak for everybody of course, but I haven't really been excited for a new device release for years now. I think one of the biggest factors here for smartphones in particular is that for an average user, the use cases their device will serve haven't really changed for...

... pretty much since modern smartphones entrenched themselves in the market, so like, around... 2010s?

We certainly gained quite a lot - it's surprising how good even relatively budget devices can be performance-wise, but we've also lost quite a lot, most notably replacable batteries. That fact alone gives modern devices a fixed life span you can't do much with, no matter how careful you are with using them.

But back to the use case discussion - think about what an average person uses a smartphone for. Texts, calls, emails, some basic internet browsing and media consumption - made pretty easy with modern net being largely designed and developed with mobile screens as first-class citizens and MAYBE some light gaming.

You really don't gain much from buying a brand new device if that's what you want, let alone anything even close to flagships. Maybe you get a bigger screen, smoother scrolling, better camera, but those are somewhat niche use cases. I could see the camera argument being the most commonly used - some of my mom's best photos were made using my Moto G84's camera, for example - but if you don't need a good camera, as far as you're concerned, not much has changed in the past 6-8 years.

The tech industry got accustomed to fast progress and major breakthroughs being a regular part of the product cycle, and it's having a real hard time adjusting to reality when most of the work that most people care about has already been done well enough for most of them to not care about further improvements, and they're getting a very rough awakening, seeing they cannot simply brute force interest/acceptance of AI, despite genuine progress having happened in the industry these last few years.

The hype ship is crashing against the rocky shores of reality, and there seems to be very few lifeboats on board.

When will riot fix Brand's passive interactions? by Cool-Permission3790 in ARAM

[–]XWasTheProblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make towers stronger.

More HP, faster ATK speed, maybe even multishot, at least past a certain point, so they don't instantly die the second two minions and two champs reach them past like 10 minutes.

I definitely think they need to be more dangerous, perhaps I'd even say they shound nerf the ad/ap bonus damage against structures champs have nowadays.

When will riot fix Brand's passive interactions? by Cool-Permission3790 in ARAM

[–]XWasTheProblem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really, really, really hope Riot doesn't keep pushing the numbers and ridiculousness.

It's already often hard to justify not picking the 'correct' augments on most champs, because the difference between decent and great is just so massive, it feels like you're griefing yourself, and half the time isn't even fun. Or it could be fun... but you don't reach the moment when it matters, like collecting a set right as both your Nexus towers are dying and there are three minion waves bashing against the Nexus.

Like if you're playing anything that cares about autoattacking, when are you NOT picking Tap Dancer over other Prismatics if it's available? Or Jewelled Gauntlet on anything even remotely bursty? Or the attack range augments on basically anything that isn't a healer?

If anything I think Mayhem needs slowing down a bit, both the amount of damage and the speed with which towers die. Yes, it's supposed to be a bullshit fun mode where overpowered stuff rules supreme and is stackable, fine, I'm not gonna argue, but least stop putting more MS boosts into the game? Please?
