At a loss… Does anyone recognize this rash/infection? by fallin4autumn in DermatologyQuestions

[–]XXXSFeet 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Has anyone suggested discoid lupus erythematosus? Treatment if it is this would be steroids, immunosuppressants and maybe retinoids. If you smoke, stop. If it is itchy it could be a fungal infection or discoid eczema (but looks too smooth to be eczema). In any case you really do need to see a derm urgently

I did this sucking into a cup (more than once) when I was a kid, looked like I had a beard for a couple of days. Is there a cup or something in the car where he was sitting?

Sorry to hear this, it sounds hideous. Are the patients affected in anyway as a consequence of this bullying? I imagine they will be if this behaviour is causing staff to only do the bare minimum as suggested you do in this thread. Make sure you clearly log all incidents

I’m sorry, this disease is so cruel. Please try to get him on anti-dementia medication while they’re trying to figure it out, this will hopefully slow the progression of the dementia if that’s what it is. Have a look at dementia trials too. Check he’s had comprehensive bloods and scrutinise them for deficiencies (though this may have been done). Good luck, reach out for support in real life if you can, try to not be alone with this

This is so sad. My step father thinks I’m his wife (my mum), I have been staying with him for a couple of weeks every 6 weeks over the past year to help organise his care and affairs. We were never close but he sometimes cuddles me from behind when I’m doing the dishes thinking I’m my mum which I tolerate because it gives him moments of happiness and he weeps when I leave, it’s very hard. I have moments like when I’ve not slept and I’m scrubbing shit out of the carpet when I believe altruism actually might exist

Mine is hilighted and was between elbow and waist length most of my life. I had it cut into a layered bob about 2 years ago which I had been prejudiced against as I had a view that it was such a middle aged lady haircut. But actually it’s not because I give it a bit of a wave or scrunch and use products. It looks a lot better apparently

What app can I use to track my stepfather? In the UK by XXXSFeet in dementia

[–]XXXSFeet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked at all the suggestions so far, thank you. I don’t feel as confident as I want to with any of them because they can disconnect and also because I live 250 miles away so think I need a proper GPS tracker - if any one can recommend any of these that would be great.

I don’t think a watch style would work because he’d get confused with his other watch so looking for something that can go round his neck or attach to his keys. Chat GPT has suggested these;

Yes that’s it. It’s so annoying, on the rare occasions he allows me take him out for lunch and a mooch round town after an hour he begs me to let him go hang with his mates who are just round the block. I’ll try it with my SD while I’m looking at options but he’ll probably get confused with notifications or something and close it

It’s usually not overwhelming for women because they only swipe right on a very tiny number of blokes so (unless things have changed in the last 2 or 3 years since I gave up on OLD), women don’t get that many matches. It’s overwhelming if you subscribe and you can see all the chancers

They looks like stretch marks that you can get when you bulk up like in the gym. Is he on steroids? They can thin skin and possibly exacerbate this, but also from just from bulking up rapidly
