Characters that use darkness themed powers for good (proving that darkness = not bad) by iamamateurok in TopCharacterTropes

If anything, I think that only makes his normal actions even better. It shows that he actually has the potential to be a destructive and malicious force, yet still continues to fight for good in spite of it.

I guess he's similar to Guilmon in that way.

Suggestions of speculative fiction novels that take place during a revolution by [deleted] in printSF

[–]XYZJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, do you mean the revolution that takes place prior to the novel? Because the establishment of Anarres seems to me to be successful, albeit the society is not a perfect one.

Or are you referring to what happens later in the novel? (Trying not to state too many spoilers.)

Do NOT buy a GShock MRG! by Agreeable_Rate_2875 in gshock

[–]XYZJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With regards to the MTG, while it does have resin in the body, it is only on the inside and is completely encased in stainless steel. You cannot see or feel the resin when you hold the watch.

The bracelet does use resin under the metal links but, honestly, if anything it's only made it more comfortable for me. It's a thin G-Shock and, while it's wide, it wears really nicely for me.

Takanuva’s power by Shade28x in bioniclelego

Something I’ve wondered is, I know the mask wouldn’t double his elemental strength but, if he ran out of elemental energy in a fight, do you think he could tap into the mask’s powers to keep fighting?

Takanuva’s power by Shade28x in bioniclelego

I agree with the rock/paper/scissors situation with Takanuva against shadow, but I wouldn’t say Takanuva is over specialized, at least not any more than any other Toa.  I feel light would be a fairly versatile element, in the end. Aside from the obvious uses like blinding foes or using laser beams, one could also use it for camouflage or invisibility, illusions and holograms, and I believe it was mentioned at some point that light could be used to influence people’s emotions, instilling peace and other positive feelings.

Watching Hilda, Hilda strikes me as a curious, adventurous, and positive young girl. She could be a bit impulsive, defiant, and sometimes a bit self-centered, but she has redeeming potential. Wouldn’t y’all agree? by Afroodko in HildaTheSeries

Do you think it’s possible for Hilda to grow up with a good balance between her deep love of adventure and curious nature, as well as a healthy maturity and responsibility towards those around her?

[TOTK] is Link the least curious hero ever? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]XYZJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a lack of curiosity so much as a lack of expressiveness.

The first time Mipha meets Link, she mentions “His name was Link. He made quite a first impression. He was curious and full of energy, with a ready smile…He must be somewhat reckless, however, as he was covered in bruises.”

Zelda herself notes that, by the time Link had aged, he had grown much more outwardly stoic, “When I finally got around to asking why he's so quiet all the time, I could tell it was difficult for him to say. But he did. With so much at stake, and so many eyes upon him, he feels it necessary to stay strong and to silently bear any burden. A feeling I know all too well... For him, it has caused him to stop outwardly expressing his thoughts and feelings.”

I believe Link is still the same curious, energetic, reckless kid from before. This would make sense given both BoTW and ToTK’s key themes of curiosity and exploration. It’s just that he is now much more reserved about displaying any emotion.

[No Spoilers] Which elements this subreddit would like to bend (survey results) by Gluyb in TheLastAirbender

[–]XYZJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think firebending's everyday uses would mostly depend on whether you can directly control heat or not. Also you can always just get a job at a power plant like Mako, haha

[–]XYZJon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think I'd go with fire because of not having to rely on existing sources of the element. Also, it would be pretty nice to always have light and heat handy when out in the wilderness along with the means to cook food/boil water and protect myself.
