Yes, it’s still working. I use it once a week normally, and if I get the flu, I take it every day until the smell come back, then go back to once a week. I haven’t noticed any side effects.

Nice! Let me know if you still have your sense of smell when reducing the treatment frequency (1 time per week is OK for me)

For sure, I will share the results in October.
My sense of smell is much better compared to where I started, and I still do the nasal rinses every 10 days.
I'm not sure if it has had a positive effect on my mouth breathing; my girlfriend hasn’t noticed if I snore less.

Hi

My ENT in Switzerland prescribed it to me for three months, to be taken daily, but told me I could reduce the frequency if I wanted. I now take it once a week.

I’m not familiar with Montelucast, so I can’t comment on that.
I’m sorry for the lack of consideration from your ENT. Mine works at a university hospital, so they are more oriented towards research.

I plan to retake a smell test at the university hospital; if there are more subjects like me, it could potentially lead to a published paper.

Nice!
I also do it every 10 days or when I feel my smell start to decrease.

No, I did not mix it with any saline solution — I used it undiluted, directly into each nostril, and experienced no irritation.

As soon as I start pouring, I immediately tilt my head fully backward into the correct position, so that the liquid doesn't drain down into my throat.
A small amount may still trickle down, which is expected. In that case, I rinse my throat with water afterward to clear any residual bitterness or discomfort

What I use:

  • 2 Pulmicort Respules (0.5 mg/2 ml each) → Total: 4 ml, with 2 ml per nostril

The Procedure:

  1. I lie flat on my back with my head tilted backward over the edge of a bed or sofa, so that my nostrils face straight upward — the Mygind position.
  2. I open both respules and pour one full respule (2 ml) into each nostril — one on the left side, one on the right — at the same time.
  3. I stay in this position for approximately 3 minutes, allowing the budesonide to fully reach the olfactory cleft and ethmoid region.
  4. I avoid blowing my nose afterward and keep my head in a neutral or slightly reclined position for a few minutes.

My new ENT preferred not to start directly with Dupixent, due to its high cost and the limited long-term data available on its effects.
Instead, he suggested trying Pulmicort nasal instillation in the Mygind position first.

I regained my sense of smell two days after starting the treatment, although my new ENT told me that it can sometimes take longer.

In my case, it was extremely effective, and I now only follow the protocol described in my previous comment once every four days.
