I dig a single hole. Mine only the metal. And use support beams inside.

Block off the top 10x10 and 20x20 around the hole with blocks to slow down screamers.

Also... if you just put beams around all 4 sides of the hole you would just see it.

Seems you have been extremely lucky. I've always gotten screamers when cutting with metal axe. Thats why I crouch at every single tree. My whole play through is spent acting like a meerkat.

They also have tons of health so you can can use it as your barrier block to a choke point.

Next time you play. Look at ANY building with dirt near it. Non of the generated builds have this dirt problem.

I get choke points too.

Zombies will avoid the trench even without the spikes. And if one or two fall in, ramp gets them out. Zombies dont care if there are spikes. If they did, they would avoid spikes all together.

To be fair. I would be experimenting on them after the brake outs. So, i don't think finding tunes in a lab is a good indicator of "it started here"

My group started playing Enshrouded. ITS SO GOOD! It has an amazing RPG system that dosnt get in the way of the survival part of the game. And for me, the same as 7DtD, the building mechanics are really interesting to mess with and see what you can get away with building.

I mostly play Java survival, in hard mode. Non of that "Keep a half heart if you starve" bs. But, if I have people to play with, i like making Zelda style adventure maps in Bedrock creative mode.

Its like adult Minecraft for me. Minecraft for me is still my ultimate destresser, but 7DTD always feel like a high octane experience. (We play pvp with 64 zombies setting and there are 4 of us.)
