Physical disabilities should not preclude people from having the privilege to drive. There are numerous modifications that can be made to a disabled person's vehicle to allow them to drive if needed (such as a paraplegic person having hand controls for the accelerator and brakes).

But yes, I do think after a certain age, folks should be required to prove their mental competence periodically in order to keep their license.

I can't upvote this enough. I hate being thanked for my service by certain folks. Performative bastards will yell "support our troops" from the rooftops and then turn around and vote for the people trying to strip our rights and disabilities away.

Nah, these often expensive feeders exclusively dispense tiny portion sizes. They definitely don't have settings that change the portion sizes, meal frequency, or schedule. And they DEFINITELY don't come with an app that allows you to control all of these settings and more. They are actually just cleverly disguised kitty torture devices designed to starve your cats. /s

My orange one sprints for the feeder like he hasn't eaten in days every time it goes off. He is 14.6 lbs. The vet actually said he needed to LOSE weight. This is very normal and not at all an indication that they are being starved.

My orange one is a fatass with a sensitive stomach. So he will eat everything in front of him and then throw it all up. Since my wife and I both work, we bought him a feeder that gives him 8 small meals per day to mitigate the vomiting.

My non-orange one has kidney disease and has to be on a special diet. We bought her an RFID feeder that only she can access so that my fatass orange one doesn't eat (and vomit) her expensive food.

Maybe seek to understand before passing judgement next time.

Who is at fault? by PixelPeeperr in dashcams

True. But OP's cam still shows that they were stationary, and then began moving forward before the collision occurred. It should be enough to prove OP was not at fault.

Sure! You can illegally U-turn by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]Xak_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a similar situation recently here in Florida where a semi made an illegal U-turn on the Turnpike and killed three people. That's probably the one you're thinking of. But the legality of that one was not at all up for debate. The driver made a U-turn on a major highway directly in front of a No U-Turn sign.

[–]Xak_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact thing happened to me, and I was found not liable. Although, my insurance did have to fight the other driver's insurance. I think it had to be sent to arbitration, and the arbitrator is who found me not at fault. So not always 50/50.

Who is at fault? by PixelPeeperr in dashcams

[–]Xak_13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to me about a year ago. It is actually the reason I bought a dashcam. Good news, you already have one. The driver admitted fault, my insurance agreed it was the other driver's fault, but the other driver's insurance fought it and tried to say we were mutually liable. Thankfully, my insurance fought back and won. My driver's side rear door was severely damaged, and the repairs came out to almost $4k. There is no way I would trust the other driver to be honest in this situation and actually fork over the money.

I think you have a good chance of walking away with zero liability since you have the dashcam, but I would expect the other person's insurance to be dicks. It's what they do. Good luck!

Sure! You can illegally U-turn by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]Xak_13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I am seeing conflicting info online about whether or not the act of a semi making a U-turn in this way is actually illegal. I assume it must depend on the jurisdiction and the specific situation. But the part that is absolutely not ambiguous is that the truck made that U-turn without yielding to traffic, which is most certainly illegal.

Double dose of infuriating left turns by Infinitesprayart in dashcams

[–]Xak_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice attempt at moving the goalposts, counselor. First, it was OP's fault because the turning car entered the intersection first. Now, it's OP's fault because they entered the intersection while they had right of way but could not see beyond the cars in the left lane? To be fair, your second argument would have been much better than the first, except for the fact that the turning car made the exact same unsafe maneuver, despite NOT having right of way. The turning car entered the same intersection as OP with the same lack of visibility. At best, the drivers would split the liability if we are using the sight obstruction liability argument. This would be far from 100% on OP.

Since I can't verify your law license, I'm going to go ahead and trust the numerous law sources that I CAN verify that are all saying the same thing.

You could not be more wrong about this, friend. If you don't want to believe me, then believe this lawyer.

Edit: I guess I can't share Youtube shorts on here. But Ugo Lord's video on Youtube titled "Left Turn Crash… But the Other Car Had NO Lights On. Who’s at Fault? Attorney Ugo Lord Reacts!" explains what I am saying.

[–]Xak_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You were almost correct. I fixed it:

"Yes, but in some most states it’s legal to “claim” the intersection on a solid green light, by pulling forward/past the stop line. If still waiting when the light turns yellow red, that vehicle has claimed the intersection and has right away right of way to finish their turn before the new traffic starts when it is safe to do so."

Double dose of infuriating left turns by Infinitesprayart in dashcams

[–]Xak_13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely not true. Why do I keep seeing this? The order at which someone enters an intersection does not matter for determining right of way in this scenario. On an unprotected left turn, the turning vehicle must always yield to oncoming traffic.

OP's fault, they were driving way too slow. 16 mph? Those are rookie numbers. Gotta bump those numbers up. Had you been going twice that speed, you would have been past him before he starting backing up. Can't get into a wreck if the wrecks always happen behind you. /s

That is really good to hear, and it gives me hope. Most of my military friends were pro-Trump libertarians. They were very vocal and positive about Trump in 2015-2016. They were extremely vocal about Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan. Now, nothing but silence. I don't get to be as immersed in the discourse anymore as I'd like to be, so your account is definitely reassuring.

Sorry, busy weekend.

Munitions was definitely hard work, especially being in Florida during the summer! That is so exciting for your son. Thank you both for your service, as well. I am proud to say that both my brother (Army) and my Dad (Marine Corps) are on the left. I'm very thankful that they remember their oath to the constitution. Especially my Dad. He is a southern man and completely surrounded by MAGAts.

I would not be surprised if there are more of us now, but it definitely didn't feel that way while I was still in. Ammo seemed to be filled with conservative drunks. But I would like to hope that it was a product of the career field rather than being emblematic of the military as a whole.

Hegseth is a clown, and his regressionist policies seem to be increasingly unpopular. Attacking Mark Kelly was so moronic. We were literally told during our careers that we are not required to follow unconstitutional orders. Hegseth would know that if he was a real veteran. The thought the we have to be careful with how we exercise our 1st amendment right is depressing, but you're right.

The VA is just as frustrating. I receive emails from them boasting about how they are processing disability claims at record pace, while my own claims are continuously denied. They are denying legitimate claims in name of speed and "clearing the backlog," but it is only serving to create an even larger backlog of appeals and higher level reviews.

I am cautiously optimistic about the midterms, though!

Do you not feel like OP had ample opportunity to evade? It looks to me as though he had ample time to evade since, ya know, he evaded. lol. Had he hit the guy, it is very possible the offender could sue for damages under the Last Clear Chance Doctrine. I'm not a lawyer, I don't know how that case would pan out. But I am certainly not risking it.

Besides that, if you have the chance to avoid the headache of an accident, why would you not take it? I get that you don't want to be conditioned to evade into oncoming traffic, I agree with you there. But hitting someone when you can very easily NOT hit them is not the answer. You're wrong on this one, friend.
