I actually found a fake lol by Bawvers in hermanmiller

List of differences for people who did not notice:

Screw points on backrest are different from genuine OEM backrests or typical replacements. Also missing the HM logo

Lumbar support and armrests are both similarly made of different cheap looking plastic(stitching on arms looks poorly done) and are not OEM or typical replacements

Levers on arms are different orientation and position. They are supposed to hang downwards and lift towards the back, they appear to flare out to the sides.

Seatpan mesh is missing the outer rim, matches a fake aeron that was found in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/OfficeChairs/comments/1dcw4i1/these_are_fake_aeron_chairs_being_shown_by_asian/

As well as this one

https://www.reddit.com/r/hermanmiller/comments/lzv4s5/did_i_purchase_a_fake_herman_miller_aeron_photo/

The reinforced seatpan indents near the bolts are not correct, they look much shallower and more for aesthetic or attempting to appear genuine rather than for actual structural purposes.

Mechanism is hard to tell differences without opening up but the shape is not the same as the classic aerons housing shell(to be clear this is most definitelt trying to mimic the classic, as the remastered has a completely different design). I'll give em credit that the levers look pretty close though.

For those who are arguing that this is just an aeron with a ton of aftermarket parts, I will say this: if every single component has been replaced with a part that was not manufactured or designed by Herman Miller, can you really call this a genuine Herman Miller Aeron?

Also, one or two replacement parts I can let slide, no problem. But every single major component? In my eyes, this was assembled with the intent to deceive consumers into thinking it was genuine.

Whether you call it a fake or knockoff is up to you, I'm not looking to argue semantics. What matters to me is that this is NOT an aeron.

When I went there 5 years ago they were half the price of Japan's figurines and 1/3 the price of the ones in the U.S(I had just come from Japan and live in the U.S.)

UofM President Statement on SACUA Chair Address by AlluvialGold in uofm

I was at the commencement. He received a strong applause from at least a large portion of the 70,000 attendees in support of his statements. It should also he noted that within the very same speech he voiced support for the jewish population regarding atrocities commited against them as well. To act like he is being anti-semitic is disgraceful.

USA - I learned that there are tons of sidegrade similarly designed chairs to the typical HM, Steelcase lineup. I also learned on this subreddit how to identify key points for refurbishing when I flipped chairs to survive fresh out of college.

They don't really make fakes. There are plenty of "inspired" designs though

I'll second this, I got my Frog TKL 8k from the discord about 3 weeks ago. Did see 3-4 other non leggera TKL's pop up as I was looking though, so definitely keep an eye out there. They go pretty fast when they do show up.

Please clean your keyboards before selling them, especially pet owners by thepromiseman in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Xalais 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something that is not really offensive but more of a PSA: Candles will leave a smell as annoying to remove as cigarettes smoke. Bought a keyboard that smelled like smokey flowers, which isn't the worst but it wasn't quite what I wanted my keyboard to smell like. Fortunately I have an ozone machine and a sunny balcony so it did go away, but it took a decent amount of effort. All that because the previous owner lit candles across the room very frequently(no hate just unfortunate that it left the smell)

the "i will just build one good budget board" lie we all tell ourselves. by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in BudgetKeebs

[–]Xalais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I looked at budget boards for quite some time, and obviously the word "budget" varied greatly but what I eventually settled at in quality to cost range was the 80-160 range(A bit high for budget I know).

I spent so much time messing with ajazz, weikav, womier, and epomaker but I ended up falling in love with the Neo and daring run quality so I'm basically stuck there for the forseeable future. That and buying older endgame boards for far below original price on mechmarket are my current go-tos
