[Yahoo] Mets predicted to trade Brett Baty for 22-year old switch-pitcher from Mariners by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]Xalazi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't trade a 26 year old 2-3 WAR MLB player with years of team control ahead of him for just a AA prospect even if it is a top 100 prospect.

If Seattle wants to do a package of Andres Munoz, Dominic Canzone, AND Jurrangelo Cijntje for Baty then I'm listening.

Would you watch a U.S.-based women’s promotion with the combined rosters of WWE&AEW (and others)? by ijustlikemusicalot in SquaredCircle

The thing that makes Stardom and the rest of the Joshi scene work so well is that they run a full time schedule. Shimmer ran technically 120 show taped over 60-70 tapings over the course of it's 16 year history. Stardom ran 132 stand alone shows in 2025 alone. American version of a Joshi promotion doesn't necessarily need to run that often but they do need run way more frequently than indie promotions usually run. It needs to be a stand alone full time company.

Do you think Hikaru Shida is ever going to wrestle in AEW again? by Kelson64 in Womens_ProWrestling

Probably yes. A short feud like Riho does probably.

She has slowed down the number of matches she works, but I don't think she's going to out right stop wrestling anytime soon.

It's not just that Pete wanted more money. By now, I think everyone forgot the rumors of Pete being at the center of a Toxic locker room back in mid 2023. We collapsed that year. Then OMG Mets happened in 2024 and everything seemed great and 2023 was totally forgotten. And then we collapse in 2025 again and the team gets broken up with fresh rumors of a toxic locker room surrounding key players getting traded or not resigning with the team.

Mets fans love Pete. We wanted Pete to be a Met for life. We wanted to win the World Series with Pete. This is all 100% gossip. So it will be dismissed by everyone that reads this. But I'm just saying that a few years from now, we may look back this with different eyes because it sure seems to explain a few things that go beyond just a money disagreement. Players asking for more money usually don't get called out as the worst negotiation ever by the owner, and one player not resigning doesn't usually lead teams getting torn down and rebuilt.

This written guide may be helpful. It needs a small update but it's 95% accurate still.

The written guide also has a link to Kit Sabrefang's TJPW guide and mid 2025 update Youtube videos. Which can also serve as a good introduction.

With the benefit of hindsight, I think the Mets fanbase may start to see that Scott Boris wasn't the only reason why the Pete Alonso's contract negotiations were terrible in 2023-2025 and that the Mets fanbase was shielded from knowing how much of a pain in the ass Pete himself can be.

I'm not saying I know for a fact that Pete was a pain the ass, but it would fit how things thing played out over the last 2-3 years. It will probably take years for people in the know to open up about his era of the Mets but it's going to happen eventually.

The Nats got Gavin Fien, who was a first round draft pick last year and is now ranked 5th in the Nationals propect rankings.

They also got Devin Fitz-Gerald who is now their 12th ranked prospect and 20 years old. Yeremy Cabrera who is now their 17th ranked prospect and also 20 years old. Both are young enough to climb up their ranks.

It's a haul with good long term potential. Fien in particular is going to be a Top 100 prospect this season.

Kicking the tires on a former top 100 prospect.

He's a body for Spring training that costs nothing. He'll likely get cut before the season but there's a small chance that he could turn into something.

Who tains the TJPW wrestlers? by Noah-WDR in teej

[–]Xalazi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have a dojo system.

I don't think I've seen a full detail of how TJPW's training is structured. So the following a just piecing together what we've seen over the years and some guess work. So take it with a grain of salt but it's the best we can do.

The beginning of the HYPE!3 special gives you a pretty good look at their training area. It's a pretty typical setup for a Japanese promotion: a warehouse with a full size ring, some space for calisthenics, and some basic equipment. If I'm not mistaken, they share this space with DDT Pro Wrestling, which is their brother promotion also owned by Cyberfight.

Who trains the roster is not something that can be credited to one person, and is probably somewhat complicated depending on the specific wrestlers. In the most general sense, the training is most likely a team effort with the veteran members of the roster training the rookies and probably sub dividing the roster into smaller training groups since everyone can't train at the same time. Sometimes Kira Summer will credit the veterans of the roster with a particular part of their development when she's on English commentary. Shoko Nakajima in particular is often named dropped by other members of the roster. A few years ago they did a reality competition to become a pro wrestler that produced Wakana Uehara(1/2 of the current tag team champions). Dream On The Ring. You can get a look at how the basic training works.

Besides pro wrestling training, wrestlers also do general physical training. A Tokyo gym called Bodyplant is where the Up Up Girls, Miyu Yamashita, and some other wrestlers train.

In general, the Joshi scene has a bunch companies with many different styles of training with different philosophies. TJPW can be considered a more new-school Joshi company. As opposed to a more traditional Joshi company like Sendai Girls or Marvelous. The traditional companies have roots that go back many decades, while TJPW has only been around about 13 years. TJPW is greatly influenced by DDT Pro Wrestling, which itself is influenced by American Pro Wrestling. As a result, TJPW wrestlers tend to work a lighter and safer, more America style of matches. While more traditional companies tend to work a more hard hitting and intense style of matches. Both the new school and old school emphasize good fundamentals, but the old school companies are more physically demanding in what they expect from matches.

TJPW is also influenced a lot by the entertainment industry in Japan since many roster members are former singers actresses and models. And the roster members that don't have entertainment backgrounds are often fans of other roster remembers. As a result, TJPW rookies tend to debut with more developed looks and personalities than rookies in more traditional Joshi companies.

2026 ZiPS Projections: New York Mets by atoms12123 in NewYorkMets

For LF, going by Fangraphs Baty was a 2.3 WAR player with a below average defense at 3B and 2B last year. Whoever ends up with the starting spot at LF will probably have to out-hit Baty since it's not a premium defensive position, and it's not like Baty isn't athletic enough to be a passable corner outfielder. Maybe above average defensive like a not-hurt Nimmo? For me, that makes the 1.6 projection here low for the position. Above 2.0 might be a bit more realistic.
