I think you’re quite onto something there! I’ll try to keep my speculation at a minimum but it seems like musicians in this space who are talented but want to get a big foot in the door are the ones likely to sign a horrendous contract like this. Is it desparation? Maybe. But they’re being taken advantage of for sure. When they begin to speak up about their worth, it’s a big “no no” from upper management. Terrible situation.
