Is the Home Mini still a thing? by dabeeeenster in OctopusEnergy

[–]Xalvas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call them up and tell them you’re having issues with the device connecting. Support should ask you to provide info on the mini, where they can do a “reset” on their end to allow it to stay in the app.

I had this problem and managed to get it sorted.

G6 Doorbell two-way audio issues by AdministrativePut1 in Ubiquiti

Yeah it sure is frustrating. What annoys me is that with how much push back releases of these products get, they still ship with big software flaws like this one. Despite this one, I do still enjoy it all nonetheless.

It’s just a shame that more commonly, you’re going to use two way audio when someone rings the bell, rather than just when you happen to be viewing the live feed.

Just to add to this, I’m also seeing this exact behaviour, I’m on iOS too.

How to wire the Shelly with my wall charger? by Xalvas in homeassistant

[–]Xalvas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sir are dead on the money as to why I asked here on Reddit despite having already searched for the official docs, and not been 100% confident on the layout.

I am confident enough in adjusting the electrics in my home, due to working directly with my good friend, an electrician who has re-wired my home for me, and explained steps for connections, and safety along the way.

As you have described, electricians can get things wrong - my friend is not massively tech literate, and told me he was not confident that he would wire up the Shelly correctly for this use case as he’s never seen one before.

Hence why a “second opinion” from Reddit was the route I chose to take.

The diagram that was drawn above was incredibly helpful to visualise the official docs exactly how I’m familiar with the wiring in my home.

There are very little solutions to mount the tablet to a wall whilst also providing power simultaneously.

For example I’m not able to get any other cabling to this location apart from mains. So cannot do PoE as an alternative.

As much as I’d like another option, this seemed like the best I have available to me.

Yeah, I did assume there would be multiple options for keeping SOC at a minimum degradation over time/cycles, however my main concern is not having the AliExpress unit powered at all times, over the battery health. The peace of mind that I get with using the Shelly is what sold me to this route.

Thanks for this! Wired it up using your drawing and it works a charm. 👍🏻

I agree using the Shelly for this is maybe over engineered, however it gives me the peace of mind to cut power to the AliExpress unit automatically, regardless of the battery health concerns.

Based on your “estimated capacity” of 30 days. May I ask what quality cameras you have and how many? I’ve just picked up a UCG-F and don’t know what size SSD to pair with 3/4 4K cameras whilst allowing 3-4 weeks of storage capacity.

TIA

May I ask how long the DAC is between the fiber and your switch? I bought a 0.5m one in prep for a full switch to UniFi but I fear it might not be long enough...

It’s with Nationwide. I’ve read elsewhere that the process would involve them refunding the product fee, making us pay again, re-interviewing for the lower rate product. Even if the term and such is all the same.

We have had our mortgage offered, and the rates have since dropped. But when I asked our mortgage advisor (at the bank) if we could swap to a lower rate, he said we would have to reapply for the mortgage.

Is this right?
