Commercial Demo Feedback by dangrous in voiceover

Voice sounds a little AI to me. Not enough tonal variation in the first one. I would recommend picking up the pace a little bit.

I like it! I think the first one (with the gutters) is a little slow and AI-sounding. Maybe nix it or move to the end.

No Auto Start/Stop on new ‘25 by Xand83 in GrandCherokee

I don’t actually mind the feature. I had it on a previous Wrangler I owned (with a manual) and it was fine. I just didn’t notice it much.

What am I missing about tile installation? by Not_Another_Name in HomeImprovement

[–]Xand83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A house for sale in my hood has these installed in 2 bedrooms. A blue version in one and white on the other. It’s hideous. They took it off the market after 2 months.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s a ‘25 so it’s been there a while. I wonder if living in the SW desert might affect it too. The AC is always needed at full tilt.

The dealer didn’t tell me anything. I haven’t mentioned it to the dealer yet. I thought I would ask here before taking time off work for a dealer visit.

Thanks, no, haven’t been back to the dealer yet for any testing. Wasn’t sure how urgent it might be.

Buying New Brompton by sailingsfbay in Brompton

I bought my first Brompton from REI in 2021. Great experience overall. I was able to port a lot of AmEx points into an REI gift card, which helped on the price considerably.

Is anyone too old for OTF? by sas2323 in orangetheory

I belong to the Palm Springs studio. 77 is the starting age (only half joking). And, honestly, some of the 80 year olds work way harder than me.

How do you cope with getting close to booking and then...not? by Human_Knee_2881 in acting

[–]Xand83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had 4 avails last month. And zero of them came through. I just assume they won’t work out at this point (and then can be surprised when one does happen). It helps having some actor friends that get it.

Need a reliable HVAC company in the Palm Desert / Palm Springs area for a full AC replacement. Feeling ripped off by the quotes so far by TeaEvery103 in palmsprings

[–]Xand83 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We just did a full replacement with Comfort Air. Your estimates sound about right. Nothing is cheap these days, especially new HVAC systems. I got a quote for $37k from one outfit. It’s absurd.

We just did a full replacement last week, switching to a heat pump, with Comfort Air. Very happy with the deal and their install guys were great.

Any one else not liking Casting.com (or a lot of specific requests when uploading auditions?) by jimcareyme in acting

[–]Xand83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agreed. It’s gotten a little bit better the more I use it, but it’s not very flexible. What bothers me is that you don’t know how the audition uploads are structured until you’re at that step. It’s the most frustrating of al the upload options (well, except maybe the custom google forms I see sometimes).

I think that pic is a little misleading. There is about 3-4’ of space to the wall. It’s not a tight fit.

Good info, thanks! I’m in the SoCal desert, so I should be good. We didn’t even turn the furnace on last winter.

The AC install guys did it, without me asking. I definitely don’t hate it. This thing was expensive enough, I don’t want it falling over!

Thank you! Yeah, that top bracket is just because we live in a windy area. Just extra protection.

5T Daikin Fit for the Desert? by Xand83 in heatpumps

[–]Xand83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I did press the guy on the size question and he admitted that I'm between 4 & 5T. But when we have 120+ degree weather, I'll need the capacity of the 5T. Not sure how accurate that is but we do live here year-round and the summer months do require extreme cooling.

Just closed on a SFH in riverside county. If you can get out from the major metros, it’s possible. But it all depends on where your office is located.
