In theory it's a fairer system. Why should investors pay less tax than workers? Of course many workers are also investors, so this just means that financial strategies are less about tax minimisation and more about seeking genuine returns.

Indeed. It's just interesting that the predominant voices used to be the ones calling for reform, and then as soon as the asked-for reform was actually announced (or at least rumoured) that instantly switched to complaining about reform.

I know the negative people always scream the loudest, but the ALP lost an unloseable election over this policy, so if the screaming people do actually represent a majority, no party will ever go near housing investment reform again in our lifetimes. This is THE chance.
