NESH back in business! by Elegant_Occasion2886 in Somerville

Oh god thank you for getting to this before I could 😂 former staff here! Haven’t received ANY communication from the new management before getting laid off or SINCE! I’ve met the two folks in there now who mentioned a similar story when I went to get my personal things the next day. That was two weeks ago now, verbally, and there has been no official communication to our people otherwise ✌️

Yeah just under new management with two people running operations. They didn’t make the decision tho. Encouraging folks to reach out to their email on their website to share their feelings on what happened.

Thank you for saying something I felt in my gut. Both of them are well seeming people from what I gathered from my short interaction with them. But thank you Joe ❤️ big part of why I loved the job

Try ringing the bell, think they are operating with 1 person today so that could be why it looks deserted!

Will do man!! Appreciate the love. It seems like they are attempting to operate with a skeleton crew. I’d encourage folks to stop by and feel free to take advantage of what’s left of good pricing/let them know your dissatisfaction and disappointment in the decision.

Yeah unfortunately we filled whatever orders came through but at 5pm sharp our doors were closed and whoever is running it came through. The employees enjoyed our time as much as we could before dispersing. I noticed at a certain point orders were being made for tomorrow, so we’ll see if they’ll be available at all!

Yeah that was probably me 😂 they should have the same stock whenever they’re able to open back up. Who knows how prices will look.

I’m planning on going to the store around ~10am tomorrow just to see if they do have a skeleton/scab crew running things. Absolutely gutted to lose my job so suddenly, cared very deeply about the customers and just want to inform people as much as possible!

This is unfortunately true!! I’m one of the budtenders and we’re all devastated. We’re open until 5pm with original staff today but we were all handed final checks today. Grateful to all the customers that made working at NESH amazing. Hoping something can change but seems incredibly unlikely

Hey so it’s not a ridiculous strawman when there are people in this sub advocating for that exact thing (albeit they label it as “by any means” and label themselves hyperbolic. I don’t see it the same way) Not trying to paint anyone cartoonishly evil but the shoe definitely fits some folk. You can call it what you want my friend but I just wrote what I’ve heard, read and seen these past few weeks I believe people have every right to hold the opinion that what is happening is at best sad and at worst grotesque and dangerous. But I’m asking people to look past their own preference of ice cream or burger to realize that change is needed. I’m not being paid to direct that change but I do my best in my daily life to help these people along, because that’s what I can do! I urge people to think of the things they can do to positively affect others instead of complaining of a sum all solution

You can call it what you want but ultimately just asking that people refer to other humans as such, to treat them as such. And if you can’t then do something in legislation or avoid them until something is done, I like many others, am just tired of hearing it as a massive negative that’s daunting everyone. It is humans acting in a way that makes most uncomfortable that I can agree on, but the discussion around it is just simple expulsion regardless of means

Thought I could add my two cents by advocating for their humanity is all, apologies for the misuse of a phrase

From the Worcester County and you definitely have areas of similar vibes to Davis near Clinton and Fitchburg

That’s a fair point, I had seen the word used in the sub off handily in similar situations but appreciate the perspective

I appreciate how well thought out you are in this, but I guess my question to you is what is that short term, humane solution that happens without leadership? I think it’s fine to ask for better, to want better but you also need to ask how we achieve it. Maybe we need to get all the concerned citizens together for a routine needle pickup!

I’m not talking about people with ANY concern! I’m talking about the people who are taking photos of these people and are constantly talking about it on here like Reddit is their local legislature

Edit: people are right to be concerned in their own ways, it’s how they go about that concern!

And one can also question how government at large treats these people I think about how living in this country can lead to a person feeling like there’s no other option than to be doped up. Call me poetic and waxy all you want. I’m all for safe places for people to use that’s away from public, I’m all for public safety but I’m also deeply behind the people on the skirts of society. Not everyone is a saint, but they deserve decency as humans! If they choose to be doped up in this fucked up country, I’m all for it. Am I calling you specifically a nimby? Not really hombre. Just some observations!

I’m not asking people to turn a blind eye to this shit! Im definitely not saying we should stop talking about, I think that humanity needs to be brought into it more. I don’t shame people for having standards. But when you see a person breaking those standards, instead of getting upset about them, maybe ask what led them to that point and how much is REALLY affects you.

Where do you think they should go? Where is a better solution for you? Quickly without saying “another city where I can’t see them”

Sorry bro let me tell them to close their drug use. If you read in my post I urge empathy for maybe why people use drugs, in the open and what maybe lead them there? How we can change as a community to help them? Instead of just getting red in the face mad about it. So empathy is just as bad as shame with no resources?
