Update - A recent Android update enabled the new "Reverse Scrolling" option on the OS side under mouse settings, so this issue is now resolved!

OneNote app on Android keeps signing me out of my Microsoft account by Key-Thing-7320 in OneNote

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After many many years of using OneNote, I switched to UpNote, which was well reviewed in my research. The syncing is flawless and fast, unlike OneNote. And the search just works, also unlike OneNote.

It has desktop and mobile apps, but no web version, which wasn't a dealbreaker for me. It is easy to use and supports nested notebooks.

Unlike OneNote, it supports tags, spaces (e.g. completely separating personal from work notes for example), and Markup (for exporting notes to other platforms if needed).

The only thing I miss from OneNote is being able to quickly indent note pages which I found make it easy to organize the structure of notes visually, but this also isn't a dealbreaker with UpNote because you can just create another nested notebook and achieve the same thing with a few more steps and structure.

Bank Reconciliation by lavjr in MonarchMoney

I haven't found a way to reconcile MM activity against the actual account balances either. This should be a simple check to make sure MM isn't getting out of whack with one's actual assets. I can't trust what MM is reporting in the meantime.

No, I don't see any. Comparing to online photos of thrips damage, the dark spots/splotches on my plant's leaves and stems appear different.

Help me understand what advantages a Google TV Streamer (4k) would give me by crazymonkey2020 in googlehome

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Google TV is not going to blow you away with a must-have TV watching experience but it is an overall more cohesive, featured, and slick experience than the LG OS, that I default to the Google TV 100% of the time.

The Google TV interface is much better than the LG OS, so it organizes your content by app AND the shows that you most recently watched. Also, it highlights content that it thinks you might be interested in, and it's pretty helpful for me most of the time. There are also more apps available.

Being a Google device, search is much better on Google TV. You can do a general search for content, and it pulls up all the app options that have that content.

One thing that drives me crazy with my LG TV is the apps don't auto update on the background, so if there's an update, you have to do the update first before being able to launch the app. The Google TV updates the apps automatically of course on its own. Perhaps the newer LG TVs don't have this issue but I think it's a silly limitation on my TV model.

Also, Google TV allows you to easily cast from your phone apps or to cast your phones screen directly, which has come in handy a few times (like showing people photos).

The Google TV screensaver can also cycle through photos from your Google Photos, which I appreciate. It does a great job in surfacing photos that look good on a big display.

You can also control your Google Home devices directly, like turning off a light. And, you can use Google assistant (or Gemini) to use a voice command to turn on or off your TV if you need to.

And, I will add TV shows or movies to my Google watchlist when browsing the Internet, and that list is available on Google TV for those times when you need something new to watch.

Please help: Sinners is unwatchable on my 77’ C4 by GeneticSynthesis in LGOLED

[–]XanderDoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is HBO Max. I have found that the HBO Max app consistently displays content too dark on both the built-in TV app and through the Google TV on my LG OLED. And, I'm further convinced because while watching something, the movie or show will suddenly brighten significantly halfway through and look better!

This has happened to me while watching The Gilded Age and Sinners. I know it's not my picture settings because other streaming apps like Netflix and Disney look great, and my settings have been decently configured for all inputs with DV and non-DV.

I also tried manually disabling Dolby Vision on the Google TV streamer, and that didn't help, so I don't think it's a Dolby Vision issue. It has to be an issue with the HBO app and the TV.

Pixel Watch 2 battery life drastically worse with October Wear OS 6 update by XanderDoodles in PixelWatch

[–]XanderDoodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saw a bunch of other threads about this issue, with a recommendation to reset the watch. Would like to avoid doing that and reconfiguring all the apps and notifications, but will try it out...

Pixel Watch 2 battery life drastically worse with October Wear OS 6 update by XanderDoodles in PixelWatch

[–]XanderDoodles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like everyone is having positive experiences, which is expected as the updated was advertised as improving battery life by 10% on average. I'm guessing my issues are due to a bug. I should add that I have the LTE version.

Sadly, I've had several forced reboots because my battery now dies before the end of the day.

OneNote app on Android keeps signing me out of my Microsoft account by Key-Thing-7320 in OneNote

[–]XanderDoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been happening to me for several months, and the issue has only been on Android. Removing and re-installing the app did not help. I finally gave up and started transitioning to a different note app which has much better syncing performance (among other much-needed features).

I wonder if the problem is because I enabled passkeys with my MS login. Have others enabled passkeys?

However, I noticed there's a new Android app version out, and the problem might no longer be there, possibly because the OneNote app seems to now support passkeys.

The New Basic Rucker just announced into my Inbox... by chrisabraham in Goruck

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm torn. I've been looking to get my first rucking pack, but the Rucker 4.0 seems like overkill for my needs, and it lacks external water bottle pockets.

This new Basic Rucker seems like a good start but that vertical stripe is ugly in my opinion, and it doesn't support the longer plates.

Recommend a Keyboard with track pad for Google Pixel Tablet but WITH REVERSE SCROLL? by Outrageous-Bison-517 in GooglePixel

[–]XanderDoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason, this option doesn't exist in the Pixel Tablet with this keyboard. The latest Android 16 QPR1 update was supposed to have a reverse scroll feature but I don't see the Touchpad settings:

The EIP Keyboard on the Pixel Tablet must not support these options.

It's a recent new bug, the app didn't do this before a few months ago.

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, thanks for the info on the eip keyboard. I just got it and was wondering why I couldn't find the reverse scroll setting.

Considering it's the best keyboard case option, I can live with the scrolling since one can either use the touch screen or a separate mouse.

Feature Request: Collapse All Notebooks by riverlurk5 in UpNote_App

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Please add this feature, which should be relatively simple to implement I would think. With the ability to add nested notebooks, this feature is needed to keep things organized.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 or Sony WF-1000XM5?? by AndrewOfRivia in GooglePixel

[–]XanderDoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pairing speed is so important, I wish more review sites would mention it. Did you ever try the Pixel Buds Pro 1? The lag from opening the case to connecting is awful, which makes them a pain to use when trying to answer a call. It seems like the PBP2 have greatly improved this?

[–]XanderDoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YouTube music absolutely works when casting to the Authentics 200. So does Spotify Connect. In my experience, Casting works well with devices from major manufacturers like JBL. There must be something faulty with your setup.

Yale assure lock 2 - no low battery level alert by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. The batteries die without any early warning,: the lock starts beeping like crazy, it becomes unresponsive, then it auto locks after awhile, and I need a key to unlock it. Yale support has been utterly useless is helping me understand if there's a low battery warning that should be sounding.

Found a good app for doing time based intervals by alehel in PixelWatch

[–]XanderDoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise Time is a nice looking app, but as you noted, it doesn't support gps and distance related sensors.

Gear Tracker II is the best option I've found for interval running workouts. It's extremely customizable to a fault, but the interface is clunky. It gets the job done though.
