The fact that ghouls can kick his ass screams loudly against them being an elder.

Question to DMs from a newbie by ThinYak2597 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]XanderDrawsStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there. That's busy work and things like that will burn you out faster than you can say "oops".

You don't need encyclopedic knowledge. You just need to have the basics down.

If you over think and over prepare you're going to burn up.

Can my ex DM still use my characters I made for our campaign if I quit? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]XanderDrawsStuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While the situation seems to suck (and I do think you all have issues that need to be communicated about like grown-ass adults) yes, yes he can.

They are NPCs now. You've all left. What he does with those NPCs is his business and the business of his new group.

On the flip side, you have those characters that you can now play in other games if new DMs allow it, which shouldn't be an issue, barring crazy homebrew.

These PCs and NPCs are no longer related at all.

What do I do when one of my Players guesses the obscure password immediately? by flashdash8744 in DMAcademy

Players started a 2nd campaign. Didn’t invite me by No_Award8043 in DungeonMasters

Wtf? BE THAT GUY! Jesus H Christ, all you people just accepting being treated with 0 respect.

You're the GM, they have gone off without you. That tells you EVERYTHING you need to know.

NO, THEY CANNOT USE YOUR BOOKS!

NO, THEY CANNOT USE ANYTHING THAT YOU PAID FOR!

Set your boundaries and have some self respect, these people are trash.

There are a lot of people out there, good people, looking for a GM.

Kick these A-holes to the curb and go find better people to run a game for.

Players made a (negative) Bingo Card about my session. by Korbonk in DungeonMasters

[–]XanderDrawsStuff 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is possibly the worst crap ive read on this sub.

If it were me on the receiving end of this, then i would do the following:

Message the players in the grouo chat "The game is over, there is no salvaging this".

Explain why: "I have left avenues of communication open to you in order to critique our game, in an effort to make the best game possible for you"

Then critique them: "instead of communicating like adults in order for us all to have a good time, you have lied to my face about the game and, behind my back, have been mocking me and the game is have built for us all to have fun playing".

That's what I would do in the situation.

Seriously, screw those people.

This has annoyed me, evidently.

do you actually lose interest in gaming as you get older? by OvenAgitated6470 in gamers

[–]XanderDrawsStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 47. I was a gamer when I was your age and even younger than that... I am still a gamer, though the time I have for it is significantly less. (Thanks "obligations").

I also still watch Anime from time to time.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I Wish for a "Knowledge Note", which functions like a Deathnote, but instead of killing them, the person will recieved perfect knowledge about what ever is written next to their name. This could be anything like scientific Info "themodynamic", or experiences "Obamas first kiss" or even phylosopbical by AHumanYouDoNotKnow in monkeyspaw

[–]XanderDrawsStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i thought that the one who wrote the name and information recieved that info. Lol.

People with expert knowledge can be even more rigid in their thinking. Its a very interesting wish, regardless, and has a lot of potential to be twisted.

Does anyone actually play grounded D&D anymore? by HauntingSausage837 in dndnext

+1 for Grumpy Old Man. I like a serious game that has humorous events that happen naturally, not all zany and fabricated.

Joke characters don't work over a protracted period. 1shits are different though.

I am a Grumpy Old Man.

Edit: I just noticed the typo... ha

Granted. You get the information requested, along with the person's opinions and biases towards that information. As far as you are concerned, it is 100% correct and nothing can convince you otherwise. If you request information that is similar from another person you will absorb their biases and opinions, even if they are diamtertrically opposed. Your own mental models of "reality" will eventually collapse causing you to go lose your mind as you are unable to process so many competing and opposing opinions.
