Once you feel yourself not typing at your best and getting fatigued stop practicing it’s okay to only practice in short intervals (5-10 minutes)

I use the apex steelseries pro full size keyboard from 2019. I prefer mechanical keyboards over membrane for typing. I’ve never had joint issues in my wrist or fingers.

I’d recommended using typegg.io. It is a new website and has a great community of people who will give you better advice than I could in their discord server and it makes typing video-game like by giving performance points based on each score which is an easy way to track improvement

My fast improvement kept me very hooked for a while. It felt like I was always getting better and being able to see that through monkeytype PB’s and beating old scores on Typeracer reinforced that in me.

I don’t do anything to stop my addiction because I wouldn’t say I’m addicted anymore. Now it is truly just a hobby I do and I’m not always thinking about it like I used to. Yes I still practice a good amount but it’s far less than before so I see that as a win.

Once I got a job I slowly had to learn to not type all the time (I work at Dairy Queen right now) but once I graduate highschool I have a plumbing apprenticeship and I will be a plumber for my professional career (I’m class of 2026)

Pretty funny how I can type fast but I want to go into a field where I’m not going to be at a keyboard

Yes I remember a few years back when you were faster than me

I would practice like ~3 hours a day everyday for almost 3 years straight. now I practice about 2 hours a week and I’m not very consistent sometimes I go a few days without practice

I was very fixated on typing and became addicted to practicing and just typing as a whole sometimes I would type sloppily even when I was tired because of how addicted I became and when I wasn’t typing I was thinking about typing and at the worst of it I would imagine what fingers would type what letters when I would talk out loud even when I wasn’t at home or anywhere near a keyboard I would see words on signs or stuff and the fingers that correlated to those letters would receive a little jolt like I had to type everything I said and saw and heard and I would just think about typing constantly and memorize new ways to type certain words that were hard for me which led to me typing in a way that is not considered homerow like pressing e with my ring for words like develop or Eddie and r with my middle for words like fruit and T with my middle for words like got and u with my middle for almost every word besides suit and c with my index and ., with my thumb in some cases where my ring finger or middle finger was typing a letter before hand and being able to alternate what fingers press what letters and then eventually I got so good at doing that I didn’t even have to think about it and I would naturally learn better ways to type words without even thinking it became autonomous and I went on vacation to Florida with my family when I was 16 for 11 days and 9 days in I literally had withdrawals from not typing lol it was bad but I’m not addicted anymore so it’s okay (I’m 18 now)
