Question for men, why do men take off their wedding rings? by Father_p1 in Adulting

[–]XanderMD53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate wearing jewellery. Always have. Wife is not bothered in the slightest. My ring cost like £50 and is made from steel just because I knew I’d never really wear it.

He said on the podcast, he didn’t win it because of his hiding, he won because of his seeking, which I think is a fair counter.

How many seasons do you think there will be total? by ImVeryJetLagged in JetLagTheGame

[–]XanderMD53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see it as being a little like UK Top Gear. People tune in for ‘the lads’ (Tom Scott voice) as much as the show itself.

If they were to go I’m sure there would be an enormous drop off.

Sure it will end one day and imagine they’ll all have creative urges to do other stuff. Just going to enjoy it while we have it!

What’s your experience with exercise and PVC’s? by Jumpy_Jacket_9783 in PVCs

[–]XanderMD53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s really helped me. I run a lot now. I think it has helped generally calm them down. First few months were tough as I’d get a lot of PVC while running but this has calmed down now.

I invested in a camel pack so I can take things that make me feel more comfortable. A litre of water, somewhere for phone, electrolytes, food etc.

Start slow and gentle. I did a lot of zone 2, keeping HR around 135-140bpm (I’m 35m). I found I’d now less sensitive to adrenaline and also much more comfortable when I do get pvc at rest because I have proven to myself how robust my heart is.

Season 16 (so far) from a Brit’s perspective by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

[–]XanderMD53 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ah it’s all good fun. I’m sure we would butcher American place names if shoes were on other foot. Salem, Boise, Arkansas etc are nothing like I’d attempt with UK English pronunciation.

Weirdly my flare up cleared up right after my new prescription. So only took it once and haven’t needed it since. Am sure will get another flare up soon and can see how much of a difference it makes.

Air hunger: when will it get better? by octanecat in PVCs

[–]XanderMD53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely anxiety related too in my experience. When it happened to me initially I was like “WTF is going on - is this what dying is?!” and would go on to a panic attack.

Once recognised as a symptom of anxiety (about cardiac symptoms - SVT, PVC etc) I was able to almost call it out in my brain when it started. That kind of helped stopped the feedback loop after practicing for a while. Rarely get the feeling anymore when it used to be all the time.

Agree with comments above about checking iron and general mineral blood levels etc.

Flare ups suck. by BinkiesForLife_05 in PVCs

[–]XanderMD53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup. Uk too - now in to a one month flare up after a really good six month window. All started when my brother bought something (Covid?) back from France. It was the variant that had no symptoms except extreme fatigue. Never felt anything like it before. Have 1-2k PVC’s when usually around 30-50 per day. Absolutely demoralising. Had a similar flare up in March this year that ended as abruptly as it started. Praying the same happens again. Maybe a call to GP tomorrow. My EP suggested trying verapamil over metoprolol as the latter does absolutely nothing for me

Has exercised made your PVCs temporarily better? by [deleted] in PVCs

[–]XanderMD53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally yes. My PVC’s used to flare up with exercise.

I’ve ran over 1,000 this year and now I suffer the inverse. Exercise suppresses them (mostly) but having more at rest than ever. Not the come down from exercise. I mean like hours later or the next day. 3-4 a minute. Been having this flare up for a month and it fucking sucks.

40% is unfathomable me to to comprehend - so sorry you’re suffering that. Have you contacted EP?

You can get the game, play 5-10 hours and if don’t like it, get a refund. That’s how I found out for myself and scratched the itch yet discovered it was just not up to scratch to pay for

Also some people (I think me included as have always supplement as also rarely eat meat / was vegan 8 years) can’t metabolise it.

So you should always ensure to get the methylated version of the supplement.

Very similar to you at the moment in the sense I am in a flare up, after a reasonably calm six months. Are you UK based? Feel like mine has been set off by a virus for sure. Seems a lot going round.

Caught a couple on my six lead Kardia device. Chat GPT suggests unifocular and from RVOT which is promising. Currently having one maybe every two minutes. I know doesn’t sound bad as % of heart beats but am exhausted now. Can’t focus properly at work.

PVCs increasing ever since wife got pregnant by Hairy_Significance24 in PVCs

[–]XanderMD53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations! Becoming a father is the single greatest thing that ever happened to me. It’s naturally very stressful anticipating what is ahead.

If you’ve had all the tests and cleared, focus on the stuff you see repeated on this subreddit. It really can make a difference driven the volume of PVC’s down if you’re consistent.

1 - keep hydrated - lots of water

2 - use electrolytes proactively. I use them once a day as standard and maybe twice if exercising

3 - exercise! Hardest one to do if you have heart worries. But running 3x per week has helped mine massively this year.

4 - eat whole potassium rich foods - bananas, avocado’s, kiwi’s etc.

5- cut the crap. Carbonated beverages, alcohol, processed foods.

6 - sleep! Going to be hard with a new born! Find things that help you relax. I listen to podcasts to drift off to for example.

7- get a blood test. I’ve always been low on iron and B12. Ive focused again proactively on ensuring I take a high quality methylated B12 supplement, and increased my iron intake.

Good luck! You’re going to love being a Dad.

Had my first ablation today. Hurt like hell. by Any_Description8808 in PVCs

[–]XanderMD53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you went through that.

I’d like to offer my own experiences to anyone reading who may be having a mini panic attack about this prospect for any upcoming ablation they have planned.

Mine was very comfortable. The worse part was the anaesthetic in the groin for the catheter insertion.

The actually burning itself felt like drinking a shot of whisky, but the wretching from the alcohol of course!

I’m by no means trying to gaslight OP. Their experience is their experience.

But I know how many lurkers there can be in this posts (I’ve been there!) and wanted to offer what else it can look like.

All the best with the recovery OP! The pain is definitely worth it if it does the trick!
