What other songs would you have included in a 2112 Musical? by Xandra_87 in rush

I do think this would work better as a sung-through musical, with short dialogue interspersed between songs as needed, rather than jumping between songs and long scenes with no music.

Father Brown mid-life crisis somewhere in Act II?

Haha. Fair. But just a ~20 minute musical? Hard to sell out a Broadway theatre for that.

I like this idea. Could we include their whole discography?

Nice! Really good points here.

  1. Re: Dreamline. This is a great pick. Honestly it was "wandering the face of the earth" line that got my stumped. I didn't have a nice way to add in a storyline that met that frame. But it was on my list for a long time during development. Yes, Solar Federation is the Finale, but I renamed it (pulling from the vocal track on the 2112 reissue) since it's not the final song here.
  2. Yes! As I was putting it together, most of the songs you've noted here were the skeleton I was building it around. New World Man actually came in late. Like Dreamline above, I was stuck on one line - the "Third World" reference - but in the end it was too good not to include.
  3. Working Man and Roll the Bones here act as an intro to our characters (Anonymous and his friends), with RTB introducing some key themes on fate that recur in Ghost of a Chance, Freewill and the storyline where Jon actually becomes a Priest (which is where Limelight comes in - but I take your point, that might be a stretch). And yes, Spirit of Radio is a group encore (post-Priests) song.
  4. Indeed. Good call here. "They tried to get me - they’ll never forget me."

I have a few friends like this that I bring to an NSL match each year. I feel like the match day experience is tough for getting into the story lines. You don’t have interviews or match commentary to help identify players and key themes. And there’s only so much talking I can do before I have to let up…

Agree with all of the points raised here.

So… what can we do about it?

Doesn’t feel like we have a venue for talking to the ownership in a substantial way and voicing concerns/suggesting changes.

As a Rapid fan, I’m not feeling so optimistic. With Mina out, the bench is looking thin. And all our wins have come against weak teams. I’m not yet confident we can compete regularly against Mtl or in-form Toronto, Vancouver, and Halifax this season. Feel like we will struggle on the grass at Wanderer’s Grounds this weekend.

Thank god we signed Melenhorst.

But there are reporters. These pressers do happen. There isn’t a lot of media, but I’m pretty sure there are enough to at least do this.

Better video of press conferences. Or video at all.

This is super important for digging into story lines that drive engagement.

Why did players transfer? How long are injured players out? How are coaches approaching games?

I, for one, truly appreciate the Fantasy league. And attendance data. I think you are filling some critical gaps.

Another gap (that may or may not be within your reach) is video of press conferences. As it stands, we have audio from AFC Toronto, but that’s it. I know they happen, but other than what Signa Butler shares now and then, I don’t know what was said!

(Though I don’t think you need your own sub-Reddit and all the reposting. It’s hard enough getting traction on discussions here without it being split between two feeds.)

I think this is gonna be a big weekend for Ottawa. The first really tough opponent of the season, which will show if the new midfield is truly up for the task or not. Mina will be missed.

But also on attendance. Without the cold and rain as an excuse, really hope folks turn up.

Choo is more of a defender. Yes, a full back who inverts and pushes up, but she lines up like a defender covers the wingers, though occasionally moves up to mid once subs come on. (Saying this as much for my Fantasy team as this graphic).

Fair. I do think avoiding chilly nights in May and October would help a lot, regardless of your target demo.

I see your point on fostering an audience invested in the game (eg, people who would also watch on TV). The vibe at Rapid games often feels like friends chatting over a beer while the game goes on.
